A BVI catamaran charter is hands down the best way to explore the British Virgin Islands, and we recommend one to 90% of our clients.

They’re stable, comfortable, and perfectly suited to the calm, protected waters of the BVI. With two hulls, wide decks, and open living spaces, a catamaran feels more like a floating beach villa than a traditional yacht, but with the freedom to move.

Why Charter a Catamaran in the BVI?

  • Unbeatable value: all-inclusive, with fuel, meals, drinks, and crew in the weekly rate
  • Huge range: from 50 to 80+ feet, there’s something for every group and budget
  • Stable and spacious: ideal for families or friend groups who want to explore in comfort
  • Built for the BVI: covers the full island loop with a maximum of 2 hours cruising a day

Broker insight

What makes the BVI so good is that everything's close, so there are no long sails. The longest hop is about 45 minutes, and if it's further than that I'll break it into two stops. That leaves the whole day free for a snorkel, a hike, whatever the guests want, then we move on to the next spot.

How Much Does a BVI Catamaran Charter Cost?

BVI catamaran charters start around $15,000 per week for a captain-only crewed charter. For a fully crewed, all-inclusive experience, expect rates from $18,000 and up, rising to $60,000+ for a 70ft+ catamaran with a full hospitality crew.

Most BVI catamaran charters are all-inclusive. That means:

  • Catamaran, crew, food, drinks, and fuel are included
  • No surprise charges at the end of your trip
  • Itinerary, menus, and bar preferences planned in advance
  • No VAT or charter tax in the BVI, unlike the Bahamas or the Med

Where to Go on a BVI Catamaran Charter

Our recommended route keeps every sail short (under 2 hours a day) and leaves the rest of the time for the water. In a week you’ll hit the BVI’s signature stops, The Baths on Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, the reefs off Anegada, and Norman Island, without ever feeling rushed. Because a catamaran draws so little water, you can anchor closer to the beach than most monohulls, right where you want to be.

People Also Ask

What is included in a fully-crewed BVI catamaran charter?

The yacht, crew, meals, drinks, fuel for regular cruising, and water toys. Most are all-inclusive, with extras only for premium alcohol, dockage, SCUBA, or gratuity.

Do I need sailing experience to charter a catamaran in the BVI?

No. All our charters are fully crewed, so you won’t need to lift a finger unless you want to. Your captain handles the sailing and the crew manages the rest.

What's the best time of year to charter a catamaran in the BVI?

December through April is peak season. May and June offer better value with good weather. Hurricane season (July to November) carries some risk but lower rates and fewer crowds.

Can I choose the itinerary, or is it fixed?

Your crew customizes the itinerary around your preferences and the conditions. Most charters visit Norman Island, Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, and Cooper Island, but nothing is locked in.

Talk to a Yacht Charter Expert

Our team isn’t guessing. Daniel and John have sailed the BVI extensively on their own catamarans, and Marcelle spent years working as a chef aboard crewed yachts in the Virgin Islands. When you talk to us, you’re speaking with people who know these trips firsthand.
