We looked at each boat’s dive setup as closely as the yacht itself. Below, we lead with what the diving actually looks like on board, then the catamaran, so you can match the right boat to how much you want to be in the water. They are ranked by price, starting with the most affordable, so the boat at number one is the most expensive week on the list rather than the only good one.
Broker insight
What separates a real dive cat from one that just arranges diving is the setup on board. I look for a compressor and enough tanks and wetsuits for the whole group, a certified instructor in the crew so first-timers or anyone without a license can still get in safely, and a good tender to run you out to the sites. The best have a hydraulic swim platform that lowers into the water off the stern, so you gear up and step straight in, and a few even fold the dives into the all-inclusive rate. Many of the boats on this list tick those boxes.

10. G3
We have booked G3 ourselves, and what struck us aboard is that she punches above her size. She matches the luxury feel of catamarans a whole size range up, and she is genuinely well priced with it.
The diving is priced as honestly as the boat. Ten tanks live on board and certified divers pay $50 a head for guided dives straight off the back. Captain Kayla Rosenstrauch is Divemaster-trained and came to charter from a BVI liveaboard diving background, so she knows the sites because she used to live on them. Chris Allwright cooks and runs the deck alongside her, with a professional chef diploma and charter seasons in Croatia and Greece behind him.
Between dives there are two sea scooters, two paddleboards, a kneeboard, a towable tube, floating mats and fishing gear, and a top-deck lounge with a sectional and sunbed that catches the whole sunset. She is a 2022 boat, so nothing on her feels tired, and we can vouch for the crew delivering the week they promise.
9. ALTESSE
ALTESSE is a high-end dive boat with an energetic, professional American crew, and the thing that makes her work is a habit rather than a spec: they get out to Anegada every week. That is the reef worth diving, the fresh lobster, and a beach club happy hour, in one day, every week.
She carries her own compressor, and three dives a week come included along with the equipment. Captain Nick Cann holds a 200-ton Master ticket and dive master training after a decade on the water. Amy Cann cooks, drawing on Peru, Thailand, Vietnam and India, and has completed an Eco Dive Master program built around coral and marine life, which shows on a snorkel day.
What we remember from going aboard is the champagne deck at the stern, a huge sunbed out over the water that is unlike anything else we have seen on a boat this size. Most dinners happen up on the flybridge. Movie nights come with a projector and truffle popcorn, several cabins have bunk beds for children, and the interior is cozy and personal rather than showroom, which is a rarer thing than it sounds.
8. ADEA
ADEA is a true floating beach house. White interior, light furniture, teak decks, kept in mint condition after a recent refit, and she is a Sunreef, so the finish sits a step above the production catamarans around her.
Captain Luka Walsh is a Dive Master who has crossed the Atlantic twice on this boat, and he names his sites rather than leaving it vague: the Indians, which works for divers and snorkelers in the same group, plus the wreck of the Rhone and Dog Island. He teaches too, running e-foil and wing foil lessons himself, and he genuinely sails her, up to 14 knots when the wind is there. A broker whose clients came back from her told us Luka answered every question before the trip and sent the itinerary out in advance so the group could get excited about it.
The three-person crew includes a stewardess with superyacht experience and a chef trained by a Michelin-starred chef. Alongside the diving there is a Seabob F5, wing foils, wakeboards, a surfboard, kayaks and paddleboards, and Starlink on board if someone in the party has to stay reachable.
7. ZINGARA
ZINGARA rounds out the list as the sailing diver’s choice, a 76-foot catamaran with a genuine dive setup geared for a proper group of up to ten divers. What makes her different is that she pairs that with real sailing: unlike a lot of charter cats where the rig is more for show, she was built to sail, so between dive sites you can switch the engines off and move on pure wind.
She is an older model but impeccably maintained, with a fresh full paint job inside and out and a vibrant, welcoming interior, and we liked her enough to go back three times. Her galley, run by the always-entertaining Chef Ed Stacey, is a real showpiece, and a rare swim ladder set between the trampolines doubles as an ideal dive-and-swim platform.
For divers who also want to genuinely sail the islands, she is a characterful, substantial choice.
6. TRU NORTH
TRU NORTH is a high-end dive boat for the adventurous, and she has the deepest water-sports staffing on this list. A dive master, a freediving instructor, a wing-foiling instructor and a yoga instructor are all on staff, so the time in the water is run by people who do it for a living rather than added on to a captain’s job. Daily dives go straight from the yacht.
She carries wing foils and two eFoils, with kite-surfing gear available on request, plus sea scooters, a wakeboard, adult water skis, a kneeboard, a towable tube, two paddleboards, an inflatable kayak and four rods split between trolling and spinning.
Captain Ryan Hayes brings more than 40,000 miles and over a hundred charters, with Indian Ocean and Mediterranean seasons behind the Caribbean ones. Sarah Henderson cooks, trained in Cape Town and shaped by time living in Italy. We have put clients on her four times since 2023, and the broker who booked her most recently called her great, with a young crew who were outstanding.
5. XANDROS
XANDROS runs with three crew instead of the usual two, and that is genuinely the best upgrade you can make to a week aboard a catamaran this size. She is sharp from the interior through to the service, the wine list is a real one, and the chef runs an onboard sushi bar. She is a multiple award-winner in her category.
She also has the most serious dive kit in this price band: her own air compressor, eight tanks, full gear and an underwater camera, with two dives included in the rate. It is set up for guests who are already licensed. Above the water she is just as well equipped, with two e-Foils, two SeaBobs, a wakeboard, adult and children’s water skis, a kneeboard, two kayaks and two paddleboards.
Two things to know before booking. She is based at Compass Point in St. Thomas rather than in the BVI, though her rate includes the BVI customs fees and cruising permits. And while she is listed for eight, the guest accommodation is really three ensuite queen cabins; the fourth is a bunk cabin with six-foot berths beside the galley, offered on request. Book her as a six-guest boat and she is excellent value.
4. JUSTIFIED HORIZONS
JUSTIFIED HORIZONS makes water sports, diving included, the centerpiece of the charter, largely because of who runs her. Captain Michael Plotner is a PADI Dive Instructor and e-foil expert who genuinely loves getting guests in the water, and she carries ten tanks for up to ten divers with three dives across the week at $75 per person. There is no onboard compressor, so this is a guided, instructor-led program rather than unlimited diving, but for most groups it is exactly the right amount.
Where she stands out is value. She is a beautifully kept Lagoon 65 that punches well above her price, meeting the standard of catamarans in the 77-foot class for meaningfully less, and she sails better than most charter cats, with Michael happy to get guests trimming sails and plotting routes.
Add Chef Sara’s gourmet cooking and she is the value pick on this list for an active, dive-and-sail week.
3. TWIN FLAME
TWIN FLAME is a proper dive platform wrapped in one of the most-loved cats in the BVI. She carries an onboard compressor and ten tanks, and with two PADI instructors aboard, Kieran and Michelle, she runs up to six dives across the week for as many as eight divers, plus Discover Scuba sessions and full certification courses for anyone who wants to learn on the trip.
Beyond the diving she is a genuinely high-end 77-foot Lagoon and, by the numbers, the most consistently five-star-reviewed catamaran we send guests to. That track record is the reassurance you want: a boat this booked, with feedback this good, does not happen by accident.
She is set up for a seriously good time above the water too, so a group that wants to dive daily and still have the space, toys, and service of a top-tier charter cat is very well matched here.
2. AEOLUS
AEOLUS pairs a strong dive program with the most memorable social boat on the list. She has an onboard compressor and twelve tanks, with a PADI Divemaster and Instructor aboard, Josh and Michael, and she is especially good for mixed groups: non-certified guests aged 10 and up get a complimentary Discover Scuba course, about an hour of theory and a shallow dive, while certified divers can dive up to three times across the charter.
She is also, simply, one of the most beautiful catamarans we have stepped aboard, a 77-foot Lagoon with a standout water-toy collection that even includes a Minicat 420. And she knows how to throw a party: she took first place for Best Yacht Hop in Show, which tells you the crew turn a charter week into an event.
For a group that wants to dive and be thoroughly entertained the rest of the time, she is a standout.
1. OHANA
OHANA is the boat to book if diving is the point of your week. Her setup is the most serious on this list: an onboard compressor, 18 tanks, full ScubaPro gear, integrated soft weights, dive lights, a hang line for safety stops, and emergency oxygen aboard, run by three instructors and professional dive guides across multiple agencies. Certified divers get five dives included, and beginners can start with a Discover Scuba course, so a mixed-experience group is genuinely looked after.
What makes her special is that none of that comes at the expense of the yacht. She is a brand-new 2023 Sunreef 80, one of the most impressive luxury catamarans in the BVI, with five equal king cabins so a group of couples or friends shares equally. Between dives there is a flybridge bar and Jacuzzi, a panoramic lounge, four Seabobs, and a sun-soaked bow.
For a group that wants to dive hard and still come back to a genuine luxury cat, she is our clear number one.
