Leopard Catamaran Charter in the BVI: The 2026 Guide

A Leopard catamaran in the BVI costs $17,500 to $40,000 a week for the yacht and crew. That is the listed range across the 28 Leopards on this site that cruise the BVI, from 44 to 62 feet, sleeping 4 to 10 guests.

26 of the 28 are all-inclusive, so food, bar, fuel and moorings are in the number. The other two add an APA of about 25%.

The typical boat is a 2019 to 2025 Leopard 50 for six at $17,500 to $27,500. There is no VAT on a BVI charter.

Leopard is the fourth most common crewed catamaran in the BVI after Lagoon, Bali and Fountaine Pajot, and the one most people have already sailed without knowing it: it is the boat The Moorings and Sunsail put in their bareboat fleets.

The crewed Leopards here are the same hulls with a captain and a chef, and that is why they are the value end of the crewed market. The sections below set it out by model, by age and by group, with every price taken from the live listing.

44 to 45 feet: 2 boats, $18,000 to $18,500. Two and three cabins, for four to six.

50 to 52 feet: 15 boats, $17,500 to $28,900. The Leopard 50, the heart of the fleet.

53 feet, power: 1 boat, $40,000. The Leopard 53 PC.

58 to 62 feet: 10 boats, $24,500 to $33,000. The Leopard 58, four and five cabins for eight to ten.

Every yacht named on this page is linked to its listing with the live rate. We are an independent brokerage with access to every yacht on the market, so this list is the market, not one owner’s fleet.

What stands out when you step aboard a Leopard?

The forward cockpit. A door in the front of the saloon opens onto a shaded lounge on the foredeck, so you have two outdoor rooms instead of one, and the breeze runs straight through the boat at anchor.

No other production catamaran has it.

The second thing is how it is built. Leopards are designed for charter from the first drawing: hard-wearing surfaces, big fridges, cabins that all feel alike, and systems a crew can fix in the islands.

We have been aboard REACH and SOMMER, both Leopard 50s for six. REACH is beautifully kept and beautifully decorated, with a crew who make you feel at home the moment you step on and a chef whose gazpacho alone is worth the week.

SOMMER is the value case: a skilled crew, Mediterranean food with a local touch from a St. Thomas chef, and a playful sunflower theme through the boat, at a price a few thousand under the newer 50s.

That is the pattern on Leopards. The boats are alike, the crews are not, so the crew is what you are choosing, and this fleet has some of the longest-serving ones in the BVI.

Which Leopard models exist, and which can you charter in the BVI?

Leopards are built by Robertson and Caine in Cape Town, South Africa, which has supplied The Moorings and Sunsail since the 1990s and has put more than 3,000 catamarans into charter fleets worldwide. The current sailing range is the 42, 45, 46 and 50; the power range is the 40 PC, 46 PC and 53 PC.

In the BVI the fleet is Leopard 50s and Leopard 58s. 15 of the 28 are 50 to 52 feet, 10 are 58 to 62 feet, 1 is the 53-foot power catamaran, and 2 are the older 44 and 45.

19 of the 28 were built in 2019 or later; the 58s are a 2013 to 2020 generation, most of them refitted in the last three years.

The newest is ABBY NORMAL 3, a 2027 Leopard 52 for eight at $28,900, the first of the new model to charter here.

What does a Leopard 50 cost per week in the BVI?

A Leopard 50 in the BVI costs $17,500 to $28,900 a week, all-inclusive. The three-cabin boats for six run $17,500 to $27,500; the four-cabin boats for eight $23,500 to $28,900.

15 Leopard 50s cruise here, built 2019 to 2025, which makes it the most common crewed catamaran under 55 feet in the islands.

REACH (2022, $26,000) is the boat we have walked. SALTY DOG (2023, $27,500) and SEA DOG (2019, $24,000) carry more guest reviews than almost any catamaran on this site.

The newest 50s are LIVIN (2025, $26,000, for six) and CHANGES IN LATITUDES (2025, $28,500, for eight). Boatox (2024, $22,000) and SOMMER (2022, $23,000) are the value picks for six.

For eight on a budget, BERESHIT (2023) is $23,500 in four cabins. RESILIENCE at $17,500 is the cheapest Leopard 50 here and is in the BVI for the winter only.

One 50 is plus expenses: ONE II LOVE at $24,000, with a single crew member, so compare her on the total and on the service you want.

What does a Leopard 58 cost per week in the BVI?

A Leopard 58 in the BVI costs $24,500 to $33,000 a week. Four-cabin boats for six or eight run $24,500 to $32,000; the five-cabin boats for ten $30,000 to $33,000.

It is the cheapest way to put ten people on a crewed catamaran in the BVI, and the 10 boats here are a 2013 to 2020 generation that has been refitted rather than replaced.

TOUCH THE SKY (2013, $26,500) takes eight in five cabins and has one of the longest review histories on this site. DEEP BLUE (refit 2024, $32,000) is the four-cabin boat for eight.

For ten: BAREFOOT COWBOY (refit 2023, $33,000), LAUREL LEE (refit 2024, $32,000, with a crew of three), SHIPS & GIGGLES (2020, $32,000) and SEA ESTA (2013, $30,000). ANNEX takes ten at $32,000 plus expenses.

For six who want the space of a 58, RUBY ONE (2020, $29,000) and EMYSA (2019, $24,500) run as three-cabin boats. DAYDREAM, a refitted 62-footer for eight, is $29,000.

Is there a power Leopard in the BVI, and what does it cost?

One. BLUE EYES is a 2021 Leopard 53 PC for six at $40,000 a week all-inclusive, the only power Leopard chartering here.

She is the quickest way around the islands on this page, and the dearest Leopard for the same reason.

If a power catamaran is the point, our comparison of sailing and power catamarans in the BVI sets her against the Lagoon and Aquila power cats.

Why do Leopard prices in the BVI range so widely?

Because the same length comes in two generations and two cabin counts. A 2019 Leopard 50 for six at $24,000 and a 2025 Leopard 50 for eight at $28,500 are the same hull; the gap is the year and the fourth cabin.

On the 58s the spread is $24,500 to $33,000, three cabins to five on a 2013 to 2020 boat. Leopard is where a refit matters most, so read the refit year on the listing, not just the build year.

Then the terms. 26 of the 28 are all-inclusive, so their number is close to what you pay.

On the two that are not, a 25% APA on top of a $32,000 boat is about $8,000 more before gratuity.

For the whole BVI market by price band, see what a BVI yacht charter costs, class by class.

Which Leopard takes ten guests, and which suits a couple?

Ten guests: the five-cabin 58s, BAREFOOT COWBOY, LAUREL LEE, SHIPS & GIGGLES, SEA ESTA and ANNEX, at $30,000 to $33,000. No Leopard in the BVI sleeps twelve.

A couple: SISU, a two-cabin Leopard 45 for four at $18,500, is the only crewed catamaran on this site set up for one couple and a crew. For two couples, any three-cabin 50 from $17,500.

Ten on a 58 is a full boat and the fifth cabin is a forward cabin, so put the teenagers there. For twelve you are looking at a Bali 5.4 or a Sunreef 80; our page on BVI catamarans for twelve guests lists them.

Every Leopard here sails with two crew except LAUREL LEE with three and ONE II LOVE with one; our note on how many crew a BVI charter has explains what that means at the table.

How does a Leopard compare with a Lagoon, a Bali or a Fountaine Pajot?

At 50 to 59 feet the four overlap in the BVI: Leopard $17,500 to $40,000, Lagoon $17,900 to $43,000, Bali $26,000 to $34,000, Fountaine Pajot $17,199 to $52,000. Leopard is the cheapest entry at every length it builds, and it stops at 62 feet.

Leopard gives you the forward cockpit and the lowest price for a given crew. Lagoon gives you the widest choice, Bali the one-room main deck, Fountaine Pajot the better sailing and the bigger flybridge.

If the budget is the first number and the crew is the second, start here. If you want the newest boat or more than ten beds, read our Lagoon guide; for small children the Bali guide; for a group that sails, the Fountaine Pajot guide.

Our page on which catamaran brand is best for a crewed BVI charter sets them side by side.

For the three 50-footers most people choose between, read our Leopard 50 vs Lagoon 50 vs Bali 5.4 comparison, with a pros-and-cons table.

Is a Leopard right for a family, a group of friends, or a couple?

Two couples or a family of six: a three-cabin Leopard 50 at $22,000 to $26,000. REACH if the crew matters most to you, LIVIN if the boat does.

A family of eight: SALTY DOG or CHANGES IN LATITUDES, four cabins at $27,500 to $28,500.

Ten friends on a budget: a five-cabin 58 at $30,000 to $33,000, thousands under a new five-cabin Bali for the same beds.

One couple: SISU at $18,500. Two cabins, two crew, nobody else.

Speed over sail: BLUE EYES at $40,000.

What is included in a Leopard charter rate, and what is not?

All-inclusive (26 of 28 boats). Food, a standard bar, fuel, moorings and water toys are in the rate.

Our page on what all-inclusive actually includes has the fine print.

Plus expenses (2 of 28). ANNEX and ONE II LOVE charge yacht and crew only, with an Advance Provisioning Allowance of about 25% on top, and unspent APA comes back at the end.

Outside the rate either way: the cruising permit ($4 per person per day on a BVI-based yacht, $16 on a foreign-based one), National Parks moorings ($25 to $55 per boat per week), the $10 environmental levy, overnight moorings where you take one, and a crew gratuity of 15 to 20%. No VAT.

Our page on BVI charter fees has the full breakdown.

When should you book a Leopard for the BVI?

Book the five-cabin 58s and the 2024 to 2025 50s a year ahead for Christmas and New Year, and six months out for spring break. The three-cabin 50s are numerous enough that one is usually open late, and the best crews on them go first.

Only one Leopard here is seasonal; the rest stay in the islands year-round, so summer weeks are easy to find and often discounted.

The rate shown is the starting rate for the season. Christmas and New Year weeks run above it on most boats.

Several Leopards sit on our ranked list of the best-value all-inclusive catamarans in the BVI. For the full catalogue, the yachts below are every Leopard we list for the islands, updated as rates and dates change.

People also ask

How much does it cost to charter a Leopard catamaran in the BVI per week?

$17,500 to $40,000 a week for the yacht and crew, across 28 Leopards from 44 to 62 feet. 26 are all-inclusive; two add about 25% APA. There is no VAT on a BVI charter.

How much does a Leopard 50 cost to charter?

$17,500 to $28,900 a week all-inclusive in the BVI. Three-cabin boats for six run $17,500 to $27,500; four-cabin boats for eight $23,500 to $28,900.

How much does a Leopard 58 cost to charter in the BVI?

$24,500 to $33,000 a week. The five-cabin boats for ten are $30,000 to $33,000; they are the cheapest ten-guest crewed catamarans in the islands.

How many guests can a Leopard catamaran take?

Four to ten. SISU takes four, the three-cabin 50s six, the four-cabin 50s and 58s eight, and the five-cabin 58s ten. None in the BVI sleeps twelve.

Are Leopard charters in the BVI all-inclusive?

Almost all. 26 of the 28 Leopards cruising the BVI are listed all-inclusive, covering food, a standard bar, fuel and moorings. Gratuity is extra on all of them, usually 10 to 20 percent.

Is a Leopard a good catamaran for a BVI charter?

Yes, for the money the best. The forward cockpit gives you a second outdoor room, the boats are built for charter, and the crews on the long-running ones are among the most reviewed in the islands. You give up the newest interiors and anything above 62 feet.
