A Moon catamaran in the BVI costs $50,000 to $51,000 a week for the yacht and crew, all-inclusive, for ten or eleven guests. Three Moon 60s cruise the islands year-round: PERFECT MOON, TRYST and MOON SHADOW.
A fourth, Moon 60 Hull 8, winters here at €35,000 plus expenses for eight and spends the summer in Sicily. There is no VAT on a BVI charter.
Moon is a small brand with an outsized place in the BVI: between them the three Moon 60s here have carried more of our clients in the last two years than any other catamaran of their size, 45 charters placed through this office since January 2025.
That is the whole case for the page. Below: what a Moon is, what makes the three different, what the rate buys, and when to book, with every price taken from the live listing.
What is a Moon 60, and who builds it?
Moon Yacht is a semi-custom catamaran yard in Gdańsk, Poland, the same city as Sunreef. Its range is the Moon 60 in sail and power versions, with a 70 and a 100 announced, and the first Moon 70 Power was in build in 2026.
The Moon 60 is listed at 65 feet overall here, with five cabins, a crew of three and, on every one in the BVI, a jacuzzi on the flybridge. All three BVI boats are the sailing version; PERFECT MOON and MOON SHADOW take ten, TRYST eleven.
Think of it as the step between a Lagoon 65 and a Sunreef 70: a 65-foot catamaran at the price of a 60, with the toys and crew count of a 70.
What stands out when you step aboard a Moon?
The flybridge jacuzzi, which no Lagoon or Bali in the BVI has, and the toy locker: jet skis, e-foils, seabobs, paddleboards and scuba on all three boats. With three crew for ten guests, someone is always running the toys while someone else runs the galley.
The second thing is the crews. We have watched the MOON SHADOW team in White Bay rinse and rack every toy and have drinks poured in the time it took their guests to walk back from Soggy Dollar.
TRYST is the one our brokers rebook most, 16 charters since late 2025, and the one of the three several of us would pick for ourselves. PERFECT MOON is the newest, a 2025 build, and clients have come back from her telling us the crew were the best they have had.
MOON SHADOW is the darkest and most dramatic inside, black joinery and a moodier saloon, and the choice of a group that wants the yacht to look like a yacht rather than a beach house.
What does a Moon 60 cost per week in the BVI?
$50,000 to $51,000 a week all-inclusive for ten or eleven guests with three crew. PERFECT MOON and MOON SHADOW list at $50,000, TRYST at $51,000 for eleven.
Per head that is about $5,000 a week for the yacht, crew, food, bar, fuel, moorings and the toys. Christmas and New Year weeks run well above the listed rate on all three.
The fourth Moon, Moon 60 Hull 8, is priced in euros at €35,000 plus expenses for eight guests in four cabins, a different proposition: add about 25% APA and the exchange rate before comparing her with the three all-inclusive boats.
Against the rest of the market, a Lagoon Seventy 7 for eight is $69,000 to $84,000 and a Sunreef 80 for ten or twelve is $90,000 and up, which is why the Moons book the way they do. Our Lagoon guide and Sunreef guide cover both.
Is a Moon right for a family, a group of friends, or a couple?
Ten friends, or two or three families: this is the boat. Five equal cabins, three crew, a jacuzzi and a toy locker that keeps teenagers busy for a week.
Eleven: TRYST is the only one of the three that takes an eleventh guest.
A couple or a family of four: you are paying for ten beds. A Leopard 50 or a Lagoon 50 at a third of the price is the better buy; our brand comparison sets them out.
Twelve: not on a Moon. Our page on BVI catamarans for twelve guests has the boats that do it.
What is included in a Moon charter rate, and what is not?
All-inclusive (all three BVI boats). Food, a standard bar, fuel, moorings and the water toys are in the rate.
Our page on what all-inclusive actually includes has the fine print, including the premium-spirits and lobster exceptions.
Plus expenses (Moon 60 Hull 8 only). The rate covers yacht and crew; you pay an Advance Provisioning Allowance of about 25% up front, and unspent APA comes back at the end.
Outside the rate either way: the cruising permit ($4 per person per day on a BVI-based yacht, $16 on a foreign-based one), National Parks moorings ($25 to $55 per boat per week), the $10 environmental levy, overnight moorings where you take one, and a crew gratuity of 15 to 20%. No VAT.
Our page on BVI charter fees has the full breakdown.
When should you book a Moon for the BVI?
A year ahead. The three Moons are the most heavily booked catamarans of their size in the BVI and are largely sold for the coming high season by the previous spring.
Christmas, New Year and spring break go first; summer weeks are the ones still open.
If your dates are fixed, ask about all three at once; if your dates are flexible, say so, because a week either side is often the difference between a Moon and a different boat.
The rate shown is the starting rate for the season. For the whole BVI market by price band, see what a BVI yacht charter costs, class by class.
