The $30,000 to $60,000 range is the sweet spot of BVI catamaran charter. This is where the step up from the entry level really shows: newer or immaculately kept boats, more space, better toys, and crews and kitchens operating at a genuinely high level, all without crossing into ultra-high-end pricing.
We inspected these five at the Virgin Islands shows and on charter and picked them as the best balance of luxury and value in the fleet. Where a yacht does something special or offers standout value for the bracket, we say so. If you want a great crewed catamaran week without the six-figure price tag, this is the tier to shop.
5. ULTRA
ULTRA is our value pick in the mid-range, and she earns it on space. She is a 63-foot Lagoon power catamaran that feels considerably larger than her length, thanks to a generous flybridge and foredeck that give a group room to genuinely spread out. Built in 2017, she strikes a nice balance of modern and cozy: the social areas are sleek and tasteful and feel high-end, while the cabins, three VIPs and a twin, are warmer and homelier, with knitted blankets and thoughtful touches that make her a natural for a family.
The deck is where you will live. The aft deck pairs the dining area with a bar right alongside it, so nobody is running back and forth, and the flybridge adds another full level of lounging and sunbathing above.
For this much usable catamaran, comfortably kitted out and easy to relax on, at the entry to the mid-range bracket, she is exceptional value for her size.
4. FOREVER YOUNG
FOREVER YOUNG genuinely surprised us. She was one of the last boats we saw at the show and was not even on our radar, and she ended up one of the ones we could not stop talking about. This 2024 Two Oceans power catamaran carries the kind of space you would expect from a much larger motor yacht, especially out on deck.
The flybridge is the headline: proper dining, a helm seating area, and a custom bar the owners added, then an aft sun deck with two loungers and a balcony-like foredeck perch up front for cruising with the wind in your hair. There is somewhere good to be at every time of day.
Guests back this up. One family of five sent us one of the best reviews we have had, singling out the hands-on watersports coaching, right down to learning to e-foil, and food that punched well above a five-star kitchen. For an active family charter in the mid-range, she is a genuine standout.
3. ZINGARA
ZINGARA ticks a lot of boxes, and we should know, because we liked her enough to go back three times. She is a 76-foot Silhouette, an older model, but that is a big part of her appeal: unlike a lot of newer cats where the rig is more for show, she was built to genuinely sail, so you can switch the engines off and move on pure wind, which is a rare and magical thing on a charter catamaran.
With an older boat we always check condition first, and Zingara is impeccably maintained, with a fresh full paint job inside and out that has her looking as good as new, and a vibrant, welcoming interior rather than a clinical one.
She is seriously capable on the water, too: a rare swim ladder set between the trampolines makes a perfect swim platform, and her dive setup is geared for a proper group of divers. If you want a big, characterful sailing cat with real substance in the mid-range, she is hard to beat.
2. GULLWING
GULLWING is a brand-new 2024 Lagoon 55 in perfect condition, and she is built for a good time. The first thing that lands is how open and spacious she feels, especially on deck, and the standout is a U-shaped foredeck couch up front that is made for cruising with the wind in your hair as the islands roll by.
She is set up for the water, too. There is a generous collection of floats you can hang off the stern, turning the whole aft end into a swimming and lounging platform where you can happily lose an afternoon.
And she eats well. The galley turns out genuinely impressive food, complete with two desserts a day because the owner has a serious sweet tooth, and little welcome gifts waiting on every bed set the tone from the moment you board. Brand-new, beautifully kept, and generous with the details, she is a lot of catamaran for the mid-range.
1. LIQUID SKY
LIQUID SKY is our number one in the mid-range, and she blurs the line with the tier above. She is a beautifully designed 67-foot Fountaine Pajot that feels modern, spacious, and genuinely high-end, with elegant decor and a level of attention to detail, right down to the tablescapes, that you usually only see on far pricier boats.
Accommodation is excellent, with a gorgeous master and three queen VIPs that are cozy and well put together, so a group of couples is looked after equally. Dining is the real showpiece: the food is some of the best-presented we have seen on a Virgin Islands catamaran, plated with real care.
Where she goes further is the experience on offer. There is an adventurous streak aboard, from dive-led days to a genuine wellness option of yoga, meditation, and guided hikes, so you can make the week as active or as restorative as you like. For near-luxury quality at a mid-range price, she is the one to beat.
