BVI Catamaran Charters
A BVI catamaran charter is hands-down the best way to explore the British Virgin Islands. With short cruising times—rarely more than two hours between stops—you can loop the entire BVI in a relaxed one-week charter.
Catamarans offer unbeatable stability, space, and shallow draft. In White Bay on Jost Van Dyke, you can anchor so close to shore you can swim to the Soggy Dollar Bar—literally how it got its name.
Unlike most motor yachts, BVI catamaran charters are all-inclusive: professional crew, gourmet meals, local cocktails, water toys, and even SCUBA.
From diving the RMS Rhone to beach bars at Jost, to the pirate caves, the Willy T floating pirate bar, and the famous Baths National Park—this is the full Caribbean experience.
Why Choose a BVI Catamaran Charter?
-
Spacious cabins, roomy saloon, and flybridge for lounging or sunbathing.
-
Shallow draft allows anchoring right at beaches like White Bay.
-
Greater stability—less motion for those prone to seasickness.
-
All-inclusive — crew, gourmet meals, cocktails, SCUBA, water toys included.
Best BVI Catamaran Charter Itinerary
Most of our clients complete the full BVI loop on a one-week catamaran charter starting and ending in Nanny Cay Marina on Tortola. With easy island hopping and new experiences at every stop, it’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Here’s what a typical route looks like:
Day 1: Nanny Cay → Norman Island
Start your charter at Nanny Cay and head to Norman Island. Snorkel the Pirate Caves, then anchor near the infamous Willy T floating bar—a proper start to the week.
Day 2: The Indians → Peter & Cooper Islands
Dive or snorkel at The Indians, one of the BVI’s top underwater spots. Continue to Peter Island for lunch, then anchor at Cooper Island Beach Club—great sunset beers and relaxed vibes.
Day 3: Virgin Gorda & Trellis Bay
Morning hike at The Baths (you’ll want shoes for this). Later, head to Trellis Bay. If you’re lucky, it’s a full moon—Aragorn’s fireballs and local bands make it unforgettable.
Day 4: The Dogs → North Sound
Dive the Dog Islands, then cruise into North Sound. Anchor off Saba Rock or Bitter End, where you’ll find paddleboarding, kiteboarding, or just a cold drink with a view.
Day 5: Anegada (weather permitting)
We always recommend Anegada if the weather is right—flat and remote, with flamingos, the second-largest coral reef in the Atlantic, and the best grilled lobster in the BVI.
Day 6: Guana Island & Monkey Point
Sail back toward Guana Island and snorkel at Monkey Point—great spot for turtles and rays. It’s a quiet day, perfect for paddleboarding or napping in the nets.
Day 7: White Bay, Jost Van Dyke → Soper’s Hole
End the trip at Jost Van Dyke. Swim ashore to Soggy Dollar for a Painkiller, and stop by Foxy’s if you want a last hurrah. Then sail the final leg via Soper’s Hole back to Nanny Cay.
Must-Do Experiences on a BVI Catamaran Charter
We personally recommend snorkeling at The Indians, diving the RMS Rhone, hiking the Baths, partying on the Willy T, and sipping Painkillers at Jost.

What is Included in an All-Inclusive BVI Catamaran Charter?
All-inclusive means a set price that covers all expenses related to the charter.
Nevertheless, the issues are the same as in an all-inclusive luxury resort – you can’t have a hot tub full of Moet…
This is what is included:
-
Crew (At minimum a Captain + chef/hostess.)
-
Meals, snacks, cocktails, wines.
-
Fuel for cruising and transfers.
-
Use of water toys (sometimes a set number of SCUBA dives)
-
All-inclusive comes with limitations – you can’t have a hot tub full of Moet…
Our Top Recommended BVI Catamaran Charters
We’ve reviewed hundreds of yachts. These are our expert-curated top lists for the best catamarans to charter in the BVI — by price, amenities, or experience.
Dining on a BVI Catamaran Charter
One of the best parts of a BVI catamaran charter? You don’t have to cook. Every crewed catamaran charter includes a professional chef who tailors meals to your preferences. We’ve tasted meals on dozens of charter catamarans, and the quality consistently blows us away. What’s amazing is that you get a private chef and restaurant-level meals—often better than what you’ll find onshore—included in the price of your charter.
Here’s what a typical day of dining looks like:
-
Breakfast: Fresh tropical fruit, pastries, and made-to-order omelets
-
Lunch: Ceviche, fish tacos, crisp salads — light and refreshing
-
Dinner: Grilled lobster, seared tuna, jerk chicken, or filet mignon
-
Desserts: Key lime pie, chocolate lava cake, rum-glazed pineapple
Got dietary restrictions? No problem — most chefs cater to gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and other specific needs. Just let us know in advance, and we’ll match you with the right crew.
How to Get to Your BVI Catamaran Charter?
We recommend starting your BVI catamaran charter at Nanny Cay Marina on Tortola—most yachts depart from here.
There are two main travel options:
1. Fly Direct to Tortola (EIS)
- Fly into Terrence B. Lettsome Airport (EIS) on Beef Island
- It’s just a 30-minute taxi to Nanny Cay Marina
- Easiest option if you can get the connection
2. Fly to St. Thomas (STT) and Transfer
Many clients choose this route because of better international flight options.
From St. Thomas (USVI), you have three choices:
- Private water taxi (fastest, ~30–40 minutes inc. customs = $150–$200 per person)
- Local ferry (cheaper, longer, more hassle)
- Crewed catamaran pickup in St. Thomas — if the yacht has USVI charter permits (we’ll help you find one)

When is the Best Time to Charter a Catamaran in the BVI?
The prime charter season in the British Virgin Islands is December through March, peaking over Christmas and New Year.
We recommend booking 12 months in advance to secure the best yachts — top dates often go fast, especially around the holidays.
What to Pack for Your BVI Catamaran Charter?
Pack light — space is limited onboard. We recommend you pack in soft-sided bags that can be stowed after unpacking.
Essentials: swimsuits, flip-flops, light clothing, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen, and a hat. Most catamarans provide basic toiletries, towels, and snorkel gear.

I recently tasked Chris to find a last minute charter for myself and my 3 teenage children. He provided me with 3 exceptional catamarans to choose from and worked tirelessly to meet my family’s needs. He was always available to answer all of my questions and meet our specific requirements. With his help I chose the 56’ Lagoon ‘A3’. Captain Jake and First Mate Maia from ‘A3’ were exceptional in every way. […]
I can honestly say that after many years of chartering sailing yachts I have never experienced such a high level of hospitality, service and professionalism as I did on Captain Jake’s and Maia’s ‘A3’…

My family of 6 (wife + 4 kids aged 11-20) just completed a 7 day USVI/BVI yacht cruise on a 50’ Catamaran. Louis helped us find a great yacht with a great crew that was perfect for my family. His communication was perfect & timely and since it was my first vacation ever on the water he was very patient with all my questions. Sending a wire to an international company to secure the charter caused some anxiety but Louis made me comfortable with the situation and it all worked out perfect!

Nadja with DMA Yachting was amazing from start to finish. She guided us thru the process of choosing a vessel that fit our needs and budget. She was in contact with us prior to, during and after our AMAZING charter. The Captain (Dwight) and Chef (Tia) really exceeded all expectations and the BVI is beautiful. If you are looking to charter a vessel for the BVI or anywhere, reach out to DMA Yachting and ask for Nadja.
