When and Where to Arrive for Your BVI New Year’s Charter?

We suggest you book your charter yacht from around the 28^th of December to the 4^th of January. (Most Christmas charters end on the 26^th, giving the yachts a couple of days to get set up for you).

THE EASY WAY: Fly into Terrence B. Lettsome Airport (EIS), Beef Island, in the British Virgin Islands, and arrive directly at your yacht charter. Your yacht can literally pick you up right next to the airport.

THE CHEAPEST WAY: Alternatively, you can fly into Cyril E. King Airport (STT), St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands (better flight connections), and take a water taxi across to the BVI. We can organize this transfer for you. It is easy and takes no more than 30-40 minutes, including customs clearance.

Where to Go on Your BVI New Year Charter?

Once you’ve chosen how to spend New Year’s, whether at a lively party or in a quiet cove under the stars, you can plan your BVI itinerary around it.

A common route starts at Nanny Cay Marina or Trellis Bay near the airport, moving south to Norman Island, Peter Island, and Cooper Island. Then head to Virgin Gorda to visit The Baths, and, if time and weather allow, include Anegada to the north.

From there, sail over the top of Tortola, stopping at Guana Island and Cane Garden Bay before ending at Jost Van Dyke, finishing your charter vacation relaxing at iconic beach bars with a Painkiller cocktail in hand and toes in the sand.

How Much Does a BVI New Year’s Yacht Charter Cost?

New Year is the most expensive week of the BVI season, and the fleet prices it accordingly. Realistic budgets start at around $30,000 for a 1-week all-inclusive crewed catamaran, and most of our New Year bookings land between $40,000 and $50,000. That gets you a luxury catamaran with accommodation for 6-10 guests, high-end service from 2-3 crew including a private chef, an all-inclusive 5-star menu, free use of the yacht’s water toys, and a front-row anchorage for the fireworks. Some yachts even include a number of free dives as well. Split among your group, it is a package no beachfront resort can match over New Year, and your accommodation sails with you from party to party.

What You Will Actually Pay Over New Year

The weekly rate you see on a yacht’s page is its standard-season rate. New Year is quoted separately and is not in the published rate feed, which is why the number your broker comes back with is not the one on the listing. Ask for the festive rate rather than assuming the published one holds.

We checked this in August 2026 across 25 Caribbean and Bahamas crewed yachts. Compared at the same full-boat guest count, the New Year week typically runs 15% to 25% above the same yacht in March, with a median around 18%. Four of the 25 charge nothing extra at all, and a handful charge 30% to 45% more, so it is worth asking boat by boat. One thing to watch: most listing prices are quoted from a 2-guest base while festive rates are flat for the full boat, so if you compare the two directly the jump looks closer to 28%.

New Year is also not Christmas. Most catamarans we track price the New Year week 3% to 12% above their own Christmas week, so if the date is flexible, Christmas is the cheaper half of the holidays and it has far more availability.

Three booking rules change the bill more than the rate does. A 7-night minimum over New Year is close to universal, even on boats that happily take 4 or 5 nights the rest of the winter, and a few want 10. Start dates are fenced: New Year charters often cannot begin before December 27 to 29, and Christmas charters have to end by December 26 or 27, so the two weeks are not bookable back to back on one boat. And several yachts withdraw their meal-plan discount over the holidays, which removes the usual $75 to $150 per person half-board saving, with a few also dropping the complimentary sleep-aboard night.
