Motor yacht charters in the BVI are booming. The BVI used to be dominated by sailing cats, but now more crewed motor yachts are basing themselves in St Thomas and chartering the British Virgin Islands, driven by demand for speed, comfort, and a more luxurious onboard experience.
And chartering a motor yacht in the Caribbean has never been easier: Fly directly from the US to St Thomas in the USVI, hop on a 10-minute transfer to the marina, and board your yacht immediately. From there, it is only a couple of hours cruising to the BVI, where you can explore iconic locations like The Baths, Norman Island, Jost van Dyke, and North Sound. Most crewed motor yachts that charter the Virgin Islands are based in St. Thomas, at Yacht Haven Grande, a superyacht-grade marina that can accommodate yachts up to 200 meters.
That works in your favor because you don’t have to spend your first day getting to your yacht. No taxis + ferries + water taxis stitched together before you even board.

Start in St Martin/St Barts & Finish in the Virgin Islands
Want the “bigger yacht menu”? We pull from St. Martin / St. Barths, where many large motor yachts already are. It’s how we expand both your yacht options and your itinerary—then you roll into the Virgin Islands for the relaxed finale. (St. Martin to Virgin Gorda is about 80 nautical miles, a comfortable overnight run on a motor yacht.)

Motor Yacht Charters by Weekly Price
Unlike catamarans, motor yacht charters in the Virgin Islands are not all-inclusive but plus expenses, meaning a 30-35% APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) to cover fuel, food, drinks, and dockage. This helps make a much more customized yacht charter than if everything were wrapped in one complete, predetermined package. Any unused APA amount is refunded at the end of your charter.
*There is 0% VAT (charter tax) in the BVI, unlike in the Bahamas or the Mediterranean.

Best BVI Itineraries for Motor Yachts
Most BVI motor yacht charters start in the US Virgin Islands (due to a lack of deep-drafted harbours in the BVI. St. Thomas is easy to fly into, and from there it’s a short cruise to the British Virgin Islands.
Once you arrive, we recommend a counter-clockwise loop through the British Virgin Islands. It’s the best way to hit top dive spots, hidden anchorages, and the BVI’s most iconic beach bars.

William was a great help figuring out where the best place was for me to go and what size boat, etc. Everything was absolutely perfect! The boat, the crew and the BVI waters! The Capt., host and cook were all amazing! OMG, every meal was to die for, every island cove and tour we went on was simply amazing. I have never ever ever been so relaxed on a vacation when when I got home I still felt relaxed. I’m doing this for the rest of my life.

After some disappointments using one of the larger charter companies, we used Louis at DMA to help us select a yacht for a week trip in the BVI. […] Louis was helpful at each step; narrowing down potential boats, selecting a boat, managing payment and then answering questions prior to departure. He checked in several times during the trip, but since the original selection was done well, there were no issues that needed resolution.
