BVI Motor Yacht Charters

A BVI motor yacht charter is our top recommendation for guests who want the ultimate in speed, comfort, and access across the British Virgin Islands. These high-performance yachts offer the full five-star experience—complete with private crew, top-deck jacuzzis, and the freedom to go anywhere you want.

We are seeing a rapid increase in the demand for BVI motor yacht charters as more people discover the advantages: faster travel, greater privacy, and better onboard amenities. With cruising speeds between 15–30+ knots, you can visit more islands in a week, including remote gems like Anegada Island or even parts of the USVI.

Why Charter a Motor Yacht in the BVI?

  • Luxurious interiors, private cabins, and full onboard crew
  • Fast cruising speeds for more flexible itineraries
  • Onboard amenities like jacuzzis, gyms, and jet skis
  • More privacy and space—perfect for families or groups

Best BVI Motor Yacht Charter Itinerary

Most BVI motor yacht charters start in the US Virgin Islands (due to a lack of deep-drafted harbours in the BVI. St. Thomas is easy to fly into, and from there it’s a short cruise to the British Virgin Islands.

Once you arrive, we recommend a counter-clockwise loop through the British Virgin Islands. It’s the best way to hit top dive spots, hidden anchorages, and the BVI’s most iconic beach bars.

Day 1–2: Dive the Southern Sisters

Norman Island, Peter Island, and Cooper Island are your first stops — all home to many of the British Virgin Islands’ top snorkeling and dive sites, including the famous RMS Rhone wreck dive. Spend your evenings anchored in calm bays, with beach bars just a tender ride away.

Day 3–4: Virgin Gorda & North Sound

Next, head up to Virgin Gorda, home to the iconic Baths National Park and the luxurious North Sound. Spend a couple of days here—this superyacht hub is perfect for water sports, upscale resorts, and beach bars with a view.

Day 5: Anegada – The Detour Worth Taking

From there, set your course for Anegada Island, a destination many catamarans skip because of the longer detour. But on a motor yacht, it’s an easy run. Dive on the Anegada Barrier Reef, feast on fresh lobster at the Lobster Trap restaurant, and sip cocktails at laid-back beach bars as the sun sets.

Day 6–7: Jost Van Dyke – The Grand Finale

Wrap up your charter at Jost Van Dyke, our personal favorite island. It’s the perfect finale—beach bar hopping, sipping legendary Painkillers at Soggy Dollar and Foxy’s, and soaking in the easygoing island vibe. It’s the ultimate ending to an unforgettable Virgin Islands yacht adventure.

How Much Does a BVI Motor Yacht Charter Cost?

BVI motor yacht charter prices start at around $23,000 per week and can go beyond $100,000, depending on the yacht size and level of luxury.

Most motor yachts in the BVI are plus expenses, meaning:

  • You pay a base charter fee for the yacht and crew.
  • You also pay a 30–35% APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) to cover fuel, food, drinks, and dockage. Any unused amount is refunded.

Good to know:

  • No charter tax or VAT in the BVI, unlike the Bahamas or the Mediterranean.
  • A few all-inclusive motor yachts are available if you prefer a fixed price—just ask.

Best Time for a Motor Yacht Charter in the British Virgin Islands

We recommend booking your motor yacht between January and July, when the weather is dry and the winds are steady. November and December are also popular for festive charters.

The best yachts get snapped up fast—reach out early to secure your dates.

Nadja with DMA Yachting was amazing from start to finish. She guided us thru the process of choosing a vessel that fit our needs and budget. She was in contact with us prior to, during and after our AMAZING charter. The Captain (Dwight) and Chef (Tia) really exceeded all expectations and the BVI is beautiful. If you are looking to charter a vessel for the BVI or anywhere, reach out to DMA Yachting and ask for Nadja.

William was a great help figuring out where the best place was for me to go and what size boat, etc. Everything was absolutely perfect! The boat, the crew and the BVI waters! The Capt., host and cook were all amazing! OMG, every meal was to die for, every island cove and tour we went on was simply amazing. I have never ever ever been so relaxed on a vacation when when I got home I still felt relaxed. I’m doing this for the rest of my life.

After some disappointments using one of the larger charter companies, we used Louis at DMA to help us select a yacht for a week trip in the BVI. […] Louis was helpful at each step; narrowing down potential boats, selecting a boat, managing payment and then answering questions prior to departure. He checked in several times during the trip, but since the original selection was done well, there were no issues that needed resolution. Finally, after the trip he followed up to better understand our experience so that he could continue to pair customers with the right experience. Great Experience for first brokered charter. Would recommend Louis at DMA and use him again in the future.

What Do Our Clients Say?

We are proud of our long track record of happy clients, many of whom return for their second or third yacht charter with us. Our clients consistently praise the ease of our booking process, our ability to find the perfect yacht and crew match, and our responsiveness in understanding their needs and making things happen. We are here to set you up with your dream BVI motor yacht charter.
