How Much Does a Sunreef 80 Cost to Charter in the BVI?

by Klara Braga Jakobsen, Yacht Reviewer at DMA Yachting

A Sunreef 80 costs $87,000 to $112,000 a week to charter in the BVI, for the yacht and crew, in the 2026 to 2027 season. That is the listed range across the eight Sunreefs of 80 feet and over that cruise the islands from this site.

Four of them call the BVI home in both seasons, all 80 feet, five cabins and all-inclusive:

If you have seen $50,000 to $80,000 quoted for a Sunreef 80, that figure is explained below. It is not a BVI high-season rate for a boat you can book.

Which Sunreef 80s can you charter in the BVI?

Eight. Four are based here year-round and four winter here or list the BVI among wider Caribbean grounds.

The year-round four are the ones to start with, because their calendars and crews are the most settled.

The other four:

  • ENDLESS HORIZON, $87,000, eight guests, 2022, all-inclusive
  • ENTRE 4, $94,000, eight guests, 2024, all-inclusive
  • SOL, $106,000, eight guests, 2023, plus expenses
  • MIIA, $110,000, ten guests, an 88-foot 2026 power catamaran, plus expenses

Every one of them is linked to its listing with the live rate, so the numbers on this page are the numbers you would be quoted today. Our Sunreef guide for the BVI covers the 60s, 70s and the Eco models as well.

Why is one Sunreef 80 $90,000 and another $112,000?

Because of what comes with the boat, not the boat. BLESSED and NAUTI NICKEL are the same 80-foot hull with the same five cabins; the $22,000 between them is a chase boat, a crew and a toy list.

NAUTI NICKEL runs as two boats. Her tender, T/T RONIN, is a full-size chase boat that works as a water taxi in its own right, fast enough to take a group from Nanny Cay to Anegada while the catamaran follows.

We have been aboard her. The salon is leather and a backlit bar, closer to a city apartment than a boat, and the flybridge carries a jacuzzi, a grill and a shaded bimini big enough to watch a game under.

She has been booked with us five times, and her clients keep naming the same two people, Captain Michael and Chef Jen. A crew that has stayed together is worth more than any single fitting on a charter yacht.

If you do not need the chase boat, the other three 80s give you the same hull and the same five cabins for $16,000 to $22,000 less. MISCHIEVOUS and OHANA take twelve guests, which no other Sunreef in the BVI does; our page on BVI catamarans for twelve sets them against the alternatives.

Why have I seen lower prices for a Sunreef 80?

You have seen lower figures because they were not Caribbean high-season rates for a boat you could book. Published guides put a Sunreef 80 at $50,000 to $80,000 a week.

No Sunreef 80 on this site lists under $87,000 for the BVI, and none has for the current season. Three things explain the gap:

  • The BVI winter is the Caribbean’s peak, and rates are set for it. A Mediterranean shoulder-season figure for the same boat can sit a third lower.
  • These boats are new. Six of the eight 80-footers were built in 2022 or later. A 2024 Sunreef 80 does not charter at 2018 prices.
  • A general figure blends everything: low season, older hulls, and asking prices that never became bookings. Ours is the listed rate on boats you can inquire about today.

If your budget is $50,000 to $80,000, you are not priced out of the brand. You are priced into the 70-footers and the Sunreef 80 Eco, which our Sunreef guide covers section by section.

What does the Sunreef 80 rate include, and what is on top?

On the four year-round boats the rate is all-inclusive: food, a standard bar, fuel, moorings and the water toys are in the number. SOL and MIIA charge yacht and crew only, with an Advance Provisioning Allowance of about 25 to 30 percent on top, and unspent APA comes back at the end.

On top of any of them:

  • the BVI cruising permit
  • National Parks moorings
  • the environmental levy
  • the crew gratuity, usually 15 to 20 percent of the charter fee in the Caribbean

There is no VAT on a BVI charter.

Our pages on what all-inclusive actually includes and BVI charter fees have the line items.

What does a Sunreef 80 give you that a Lagoon Seventy 7 does not?

Beam and finish, and on two of them, four more beds. A Sunreef 80 is 37 feet 7 inches wide, the master cabin runs the full width of the boat, and the interiors are finished to motor-yacht standard rather than production-catamaran standard.

A Lagoon Seventy 7 in the BVI is $69,000 to $84,000 for eight. A Sunreef 80 is $87,000 to $112,000 for eight, ten or twelve.

If the group is twelve, the Lagoon is not an option; if it is eight and the budget stops at $85,000, read our Lagoon guide first.

When should you book a Sunreef 80 for the BVI?

A year ahead for Christmas and New Year, and six months out for any school-holiday week. There are only four year-round boats, and the two that take twelve are the first to go.

Christmas and New Year weeks run well above the listed rate on all four. For the quiet weeks, see our month-by-month guide to the BVI; the rates above are the starting rates for the season.

People also ask

How much does a Sunreef 80 cost to charter per week?

In the BVI, $87,000 to $112,000 a week for the yacht and crew. The four year-round boats are all-inclusive: BLESSED $90,000, OHANA $94,000, MISCHIEVOUS $96,000, NAUTI NICKEL $112,000.

How many guests does a Sunreef 80 take?

Eight to twelve. Most carry eight or ten in four or five cabins; MISCHIEVOUS and OHANA are set up for twelve.

Why is a Sunreef 80 more expensive than other 80-foot catamarans?

Beam, finish and crew. At 37 feet 7 inches it is wider than a Lagoon Seventy 7, the master cabin is full-width, the interiors are motor-yacht grade, and the year-round boats sail with crews of four.

Is the Sunreef 80 rate all-inclusive?

On the four year-round BVI boats, yes: food, standard bar, fuel, moorings and toys. SOL and MIIA are plus expenses with an APA of about 25 to 30 percent. Gratuity and BVI government fees are extra on all of them.

Can I charter a Sunreef 80 for less than $87,000?

Not in the BVI in high season. Lower figures you may have seen are Mediterranean shoulder-season rates or older hulls elsewhere. In the BVI the next step down is a 70-foot Sunreef or a Sunreef 80 Eco from $65,000.
