Looking for a BVI Yacht Charter?
This directory lists 56 companies that charter yachts in the British Virgin Islands, from bareboat fleets in Road Town and Nanny Cay to crewed-yacht brokers and superyacht houses. Companies are grouped by type, not put in any order of preference, and the directory is not exhaustive. Each one was verified in September 2026. Crewed Charter is the crewed division of BVI Yacht Charters, so it appears as a second row but is not counted as a second company.
DMA Yachting, which runs my BVI Yacht Charter, is on the list too. We are a brokerage, not a fleet owner, so we compare crewed yachts across many fleets instead of selling our own. Our commission comes from the yacht, not from you, and on our bookings you pay the same rate as booking direct with the yacht. Our own row is our own listing, and it was not part of the website check below.
Rated 5.0 out of 5 by our guests
DMA Yachting is the brokerage behind my BVI Yacht Charter, and our own row is in the brokers table below. This is what our guests say about booking with us, from 520 verified reviews on Trustpilot.
- We own no boats, so we compare crewed yachts across the BVI fleets instead of selling our own.
- Our commission is paid by the yacht. On our bookings you pay the same rate as booking direct.
- One broker from the first shortlist to the last day aboard.
- Crewed catamarans, motor yachts and superyachts, in the BVI and beyond.
Best BVI charter there is
We wanted to charter in the BVI for our 40th wedding anniversary with four couples, and connected with Chris de Kock. He walked us through many options and recommended Aeolus, a 77 ft cat, and made the whole process easy, you book almost a year ahead. Great communication throughout, and the Aeolus and crew are top of the line in BVI chartering. Thank you Chris for a trip of a lifetime.
Smooth and stress-free
Melissa Rondeau with DMA Yachting was absolutely fantastic to work with. She was knowledgeable, responsive, and made the entire yacht charter process smooth and stress-free. She took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for and found the perfect options. Her attention to detail and communication made all the difference. I would highly recommend Melissa to anyone looking for a professional, reliable broker.
The best advice for our BVI trip
William did a great job staying in touch and giving the best advice to help us book the best BVI sailing trip. He provided many catamaran options and was flexible when our group took longer to plan. He communicated with the boat captain and made sure our onboard preferences were met. Thank you William for all your hard work.

How we checked. On 30 September 2026 we confirmed that each company’s own website loads, and we cross-referenced the BVI Tourist Board operator directory. That is all the check was: no boat inspections, no reviews and no financial checks. Fleet and base details come from company sites and may change, so confirm details and availability with the company. Three sites block automated checks (Dream Yacht Charter, Nicholson Yachts and the Charter Yacht Society) and were confirmed by web search instead.
Left out. Companies with no website of their own are not listed, and neither are companies whose status we could not confirm. Footloose is part of The Moorings and has no separate row.
Directory last verified: 30 September 2026.

The two rows below are the crewed-only operators: Cuan Law Trimarine, and Crewed Charter, the crewed division of BVI Yacht Charters, which is already counted above. Many BVI crewed yachts are independently owned, and many are represented through the Charter Yacht Society and the brokers in the next table rather than through a fleet company.

Which associations and directories cover BVI yacht charter?
Three associations and one official directory cover BVI charter. For BVI crewed yachts, the Charter Yacht Society is the relevant body; for superyacht charter, MYBA. This directory does not record which listed brokers belong to CYBA, MYBA or the Charter Yacht Society, so ask a broker directly.
| Body | Region | Members | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charter Yacht Society of the BVI (CYS) | BVI | Independent crewed-yacht owners | Non-profit founded in 1982. Fall Charter Yacht Show, 10 to 13 November 2026, at Nanny Cay and Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour. Site live |
| CYBA (Charter Yacht Brokers Association) | US and Caribbean | Charter yacht brokers | Trade association with a code of conduct for members |
| MYBA (The Worldwide Yachting Association) | Worldwide, Mediterranean roots | Brokers and charter companies, superyacht focus | Association behind the standard superyacht charter contract |

Which BVI charter companies specialize in catamarans?
At least five companies on this list build their business around catamarans. The Catamaran Company charters only catamarans, from 35 to 54 ft at Hodges Creek. Voyage Charters specializes in high-performance catamarans at Soper’s Hole, and TMM Yacht Charters is catamaran-led from Road Reef Marina. Virgin Charter Yachts at Nanny Cay focuses on power and sailing catamarans, and MarineMax Vacations runs its own power catamarans. For crewed catamarans, see our crewed catamaran list and our BVI catamaran charter guide.
How do you choose a BVI charter company?
Start by identifying the type of provider, then run three checks: association membership, contract type and how payments are handled and protected.
- Bareboat operator. You get the company’s own fleet and sail it yourself or with a skipper. Good when you have sailing experience and want one base. Read how to choose a yacht charter in the BVI for the boat side.
- Crewed-yacht broker. A broker arranges crewed yachts across many fleets and typically helps with the shortlist and contract. See why use a yacht charter broker and how a first yacht charter works.
- Marketplace. A listing site that shows boats and prices from operators and owners. Ask who holds the contract and what is included.
- Association membership. CYBA (the Charter Yacht Brokers Association) has a code of conduct for its members, and MYBA is the association behind the standard superyacht charter contract. Ask a broker which associations it belongs to.
- Contract type. Crewed charters use a written charter agreement. For superyacht charter, ask whether the MYBA contract is used. For any charter, ask which contract type you are signing (all-inclusive or plus-expenses) and what the all-inclusive rate leaves out, as explained in what all-inclusive includes.
- Payments. Ask any provider how client payments are handled and protected, for example whether they sit in a client escrow or bonded account.
BVI Charter Company Questions, Answered
What is the difference between a BVI charter company and a charter broker?
A charter company (or operator) manages and markets its own boats. A broker arranges charters across many operators and yachts, and typically helps with the shortlist and contract.
Is it cheaper to book directly with the charter company?
Not through us: on our bookings you pay the same rate as booking direct with the yacht. This directory carries no prices, taxes or fees, so it cannot say whether direct is cheaper with any other broker, operator or marketplace; ask each for a written quote. For what a charter costs, see our BVI yacht charter cost guide.
How many yacht charter companies operate in the BVI?
This directory lists 56 companies: 16 bareboat and skippered base operators, one crewed-yacht operator, 21 brokers and agents, 8 marketplaces and 10 day-trip operators. It is not exhaustive. Many BVI crewed yachts are independently owned and are not counted as companies here.
What is the difference between bareboat, skippered and crewed charters?
On a bareboat charter you sail the yacht yourselves. A skippered charter adds a captain, and a crewed charter adds a captain, chef and usually a mate or stewardess. Many operators in the first table sell bareboat and skippered, and several also run crewed boats; brokers in the third table arrange crewed yachts across owners.
Which BVI bases are near Beef Island airport?
Hodges Creek (East End, Tortola), where The Catamaran Company is based, is near Beef Island airport. Scrub Island, the Dream Yacht Charter base, is a short ferry from Beef Island; the Scrub Island ferry runs from Trellis Bay. Dream Yacht Charter moved its BVI base from Hodges Creek to Scrub Island in 2018, so older guides may still show Hodges Creek. This directory gives no distances or transfer times.
What does CYBA membership mean?
CYBA is the Charter Yacht Brokers Association, a trade association for charter brokers centred on the US and Caribbean. It has a code of conduct for its members.
