For your BVI yacht charter, we plug you into a week-long getaway aboard a fully crewed yacht—whether it’s a BVI catamaran charter, motor yacht, or power cat. Think of it as a floating five-star hotel, taking you island-hopping through the British Virgin Islands with a captain and crew who handle every detail like clockwork.
Your days? A highlight reel of Instagram-worthy moments: jumping in the water in secluded bays, snorkeling, diving, and testing out the latest water toys. Enjoying gourmet feasts tailored to your liking by your private chef and sipping tropical cocktails on deck while the sun melts into the sea.
Stops include legendary locales like the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke, the Baths National Park at Virgin Gorda, and the infamous Willy T’s—a floating pirate bar with Caribbean rum and a tradition for guests jumping from the deck.

Why Charter in the British Virgin Islands?
Ideal Yacht Charter Landscape and Weather
With short hops between islands, you can explore the full loop reaching all the BVI’s top locations — from Virgin Gorda to Jost Van Dyke — on a 7-day charter.
Best Beach Bars in the Caribbean
From Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke to Foxy’s famous New Year parties, this is where barefoot luxury meets local legend.
Largest Fleet of Crewed Catamarans
The BVI is home to the Caribbean’s largest selection of crewed catamarans — from 50 ft family-friendly catamarans to 80 ft floating villas with jacuzzis.
World-Class Diving & Snorkeling
Wreck dive the RMS Rhone, snorkel at The Indians, or spot sea turtles at Monkey Point — it’s all just a short cruise away.
BVI Yacht Types for Charter
The British Virgin Islands is known as one of the world’s top crewed catamaran charter destinations, with calm waters, short island hops, and the Caribbean’s largest fleet of crewed sailing and power catamarans.
That said, luxury motor yachts and power catamarans are growing fast — especially for guests wanting more speed, luxury, and the ability to easily reach more remote locations like Anegada or even dip into the USVI.
BVI Catamaran Charters with Crew
We recommend a crewed BVI catamaran charter to guests who want comfort, space, and stability—without the steep price tag of a motor yacht. Most are fully all-inclusive, with private chefs, open bars, and a full selection of water toys already built into the price.
Catamarans are the ideal yacht type in the BVI: Their shallow drafts lets you anchor right off the beach bars (at Jost Van Dyke you can literally jump in and swim to the Soggy Dollar Bar).
We recommend a crewed catamaran in the 60ft+ range for the best mix of space, luxury, and value. Or, for something more motor-yacht-like, a power catamaran is a great option –faster and bigger flybridge.

Top BVI Yacht Charter Destinations
We’ve planned hundreds of crewed yacht charters in the British Virgin Islands, and several of our brokers—including Daniel, Martina, Alex, Marcelle, and John—have sailed these waters themselves, either on their own yachts or while working as crew. We know the must-see islands, the overrated anchorages, and the secret spots only locals talk about.
Tortola Island
Tortola is where most BVI yacht charters begin, with Nanny Cay Marina as the main base. It’s also a great spot for diving and snorkeling, especially around Smuggler’s Cove and Cane Garden Bay. Don’t miss a stop at the historic Callwood Rum Distillery for a local sip.
The Litte Sisters (Norman, Cooper and More)
This southern chain of islands is often the first stop after leaving the Marina. Norman Island is top for snorkeling (the Pirate Caves + The Indians are our go-to’s). This is also where you find the infamous Willy T floating Pirate Bar, which is a great place to drink like a sailor. Cooper Island has a buzzy beach club and fun lunch spots. Dive lovers? Don’t miss Salt Island’s RMS Rhone wreck dive.
Virgin Gorda and North Sound
If you’re on a luxury motor yacht charter, make time for North Sound. This area is a hub for superyachts, lined with upscale resorts like Bitter End Yacht Club and Saba Rock. Don’t miss The Baths National Park on South Virgin Gorda—those iconic granite boulders are a must-climb and a top snorkel spot.
We also suggest hiking one of Virgin Gorda’s trails or visiting the old Copper Mine ruins for a touch of history between beach days.
Jost Van Dyke
We never skip Jost on a charter. White Bay is home to Soggy Dollar Bar, where you anchor so close to the beach, you can swim directly to the bar (hence the name) and order a classic Painkiller, a cocktail mixing pineapple juice, coconut milk, and ground nutmeg. In the next bay over in Great Harbor, you have Foxy’s Beach Bar, a great spot for live music and late-night talks about island politics.
Anegada Island
Remote and absolutely worth it—if weather and time allow, we recommend including Anegada, especially if you’re on a power catamaran or motor yacht. This low-lying coral island is famous for its lobster, empty white-sand beaches (like Loblolly Beach, Bay Beach and Cow Wreck Beach), and the Caribbean’s third-largest barrier reef. –A great place to spot turtles, nurse sharks, stingrays, and even manta rays!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I charter a yacht from the US Virgin Island to the British Virgin Islands?
Yes, you can charter a yacht from the USVI to the BVI, but here are some key points to consider:
- Some yachts, especially motor yachts, are based in the USVI but operate in the BVI.
- Many yachts offer USVI pickups, as flying into St. Thomas is often more convenient.
- Not all yachts have permits for both locations—we’ll ensure the paperwork is in order.
- Immigration procedures are required when crossing borders but are simple with proper travel documents.
- While you can see both island groups, we recommend sticking to one, as each has so much to offer.
How do I get to my bvi yacht charter?
These are the two international airports in the Virgin Islands.
Regardless of whether you are going to charter in the BVI or ISVI, you will find better flight connections to St. Thomas.
The airport in the BVI is small, and there are fewer flights on smaller planes.
On the other hand, the airport in St. Thomas has regular connections from many major US Cities such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Atlanta, and more.
Most people arrive on the 16.15 flight in St. Thomas, and the last ferry to the BVI has already left, so you need to spend the night.
The next day, you can either take the public ferry, which makes multiple trips daily between St. Thomas and Tortola, or we can arrange a private taxi transfer directly to your yacht.
Once you have arrived at your yacht you will meet your crew and get settled in. Your charter begins at 12 p.m./noon.
When is the best time for a bvi yacht charter vacation?
The main charter season in the British Virgin Islands spans from December to March, with a peak around Christmas/New Year.
Make sure to book your BVI yacht charter well in advance. Ideally, you would inquire about your coming charter 12 months in advance.
WHY? The best charter yachts are often fully booked long in advance, and it’s not unusual to see popular dates booked 2 summers ahead for a BVI yacht charter. Inquiring less than 6 months ahead often means that your first choice is unavailable for charter.
How much does a yacht charter in the bvi cost?
In the past few years, we’ve observed a rise in prices. Finding a decent yacht under 20k in the British Virgin Islands is now a challenge, with most luxury charter deals starting at 30k.
Our yacht selection is huge and ranges in price from $15,000 to over $700,000 per week. Knowing your budget is a good way to narrow down your search for a private yacht charter in the British Virgin Islands.
To give you an idea of what you get for your money, you can take a look at our popular A3 Catamaran Charter, chartering for €29,000 per week, the high-end Ohana Catamaran Charter chartering for €80,000, and set at the same price; the much-loved Tail Light Motor Yacht Charter.
Search by price in our extensive British Virgin Island yacht catalog or chat with one of our charter brokers for advice on setting your budget and expectations.
