Expansive sunbathing decks with trampoline seating:

Step onto TREE OF LIFE and opt out of the generic-white-fiberglass experience. This 91’ classic schooner is built to actually sail, not just pose. Massive traditional sail plan, long-range hull and a real deck layout mean you spend your charter under canvas, not staring at a throttled-back engine readout.
The real hook is how much calm this boat fits into 3 cabins for 6 guests. A huge aft master with a convertible king, plus two doubles that also split to twins, all en suite, means couples, friends or families can reconfigure the sleeping plan without drama. Big hull, low guest count: more space per person, fewer compromises.
On deck, it’s a working schooner that secretly thinks it’s a lounge. Wide open areas for sunbathing, hammock time and alfresco meals, plus a proper sailing dinghy, kayaks, paddleboard and snorkel gear keep the “we should probably move” crowd busy between meals and anchorages.
Under the classic lines it’s quietly modern where it counts. Full air conditioning, Wi‑Fi, multimedia setup, Northern Lights generator and a 1,400 nm range let you treat this like a small, roaming off-grid hotel rather than a fragile museum piece. The pro crew of 4, led by a career tall-ship captain, handles the rope-and-sail cosplay so you don’t have to.
Summary for decision-makers: if you want a 6‑guest charter that feels like a private, character-rich sailing ship—with real comfort, real range and real deck space—rather than another anonymous charter platform, TREE OF LIFE is the correct branch of the decision tree.

Price Terms
Plus Expenses - add APA to the price you see
Plus Expenses arrangement includes the boat and crew only (without tip).
All additional/variable expenses such as Gas and Food are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) - an additional deposit that is added on top of the charter price.
The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption).
For a sailboat like TREE OF LIFE, the expected APA is 15% to 30% of the charter price ($4,425 - $8,850), making the charter cost $33,925 to $38,350. Exact amount will be confirmed after inquiry.
You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled).
The remainder of the APA is returned after charter.

Crew
Captain: Joshua Jacques
Joshua grew up chasing cold Maine surf and New England breeze, so he drives Tree of Life like home water, keeping the schooner steady while you lean hard into the coastline, the sailing, and the silence. He has already rebuilt one classic schooner from the keel up, so he treats this yacht like a living piece of working history, not a prop.
- American nationality
- Professional sailing career launched with the Maine Windjammer fleet in Rockland, Maine
- Seasonal experience on Tall Ship Lynx, transiting the U.S. East Coast
- Former owner-operator of 1886 Schooner Isaac H. Evans, restored and returned to service
Samuel runs the deck with expedition grit and Outward Bound calm, so hoists, evolutions, and landings stay sharp while guests stay relaxed and pulled into the action. He’s the one tying the classic schooner craft to real trail-tested judgment when the breeze pipes up or the plan shifts.
- American nationality
- Expedition background including thru hikes of the Appalachian Trail, Colorado Trail, and Israeli National Trail
- Seamanship training and instructor experience with Hurricane Island Outward Bound School
- Holds captain’s licenses in both U.S. and British systems; prior command of schooners Bagheera (1924, 72’) and Heart’s Desire (1926, 53’)
Zenalyssa grew up splitting time between mountain trails and Rhode Island Sound, so she moves fast on deck and keeps guests plugged into real hands-on sailing instead of just watching. She knows Tree of Life by feel after seasons aboard, and it shows in the way she lines out lines, stories, and sea sense.
- New England sailing experience across Rhode Island Sound, Vineyard Sound, and Long Island Sound
- Served as crew on Tree of Life through October 2023
- Winter-season educator and deckhand aboard Mystic Whaler in Oxnard, California, teaching youth and adults
Reviews
The chef went above and beyond preparing some delicious nibbles that were flavorful and creative, along with some seared teriyaki sesame swordfish and a lovely fresh watermelon, arugula and mint salad. She impressed further by finishing the meal with a fresh pear pie with a sugared bourbon sauce. Chef prides herself on making meals for guests with fresh ingredients and providing something they cannot normally get at a restaurant. She takes pride in her cuisine and it shows. Fine dishware and stemware round out the dining experience.
In fact, each member of the crew are so warm and welcoming, knowledgeable and pleasant - guests will find themselves instantly at ease.
The two brand new Douglas fir Masts are impressive, with all new leatherwork, and attention to detail is everywhere, from luxurious bathrobes in each cabin, hand crafted flower vases to replace the outdated 'phone cubbies' previously in place (with fresh flowers always aboard), and brass lanterns hung on deck each evening.
I was able to 'try out' the sun lounges - which are truly the 'best seat in the house' on the foredeck, where you can relax and sunbathe, or read a book out of the way of lines, but still able to take in the scenery.
In summary, TREE OF LIFE offers a great value for a comfortable Schooner - suitable for a family or 3 couples. The two doubles forward do taper slightly - and the crew can put a lee board to separate them to singles for families requiring.“ - Emily Mack
