Onboard SISU - a 4 pack (+ 1) catamaran run by Petro and Frik for 7 years.

Frik specializes in original Tiki drinks and Mai Thai and will arrange special cocktail hour with stories about the originality of the drinks. Frik and Petro loves special occasions and will celebrate with thorough themed nights. There is a very good feel onboard.

The cabins are beautifull and the main saloon and aft deck dining area feels homely and festive.

They have efoil and floating net pool.

Discover Sisu – Your Private, Owner-Operated Leopard 45

Welcome aboard Sisu, your gateway to laid-back luxury in the Virgin Islands. This isn’t your average charter boat — she’s our full-time home, cared for with a level of attention that borders on obsession (in the best way). Built in 2019, Sisu was privately sailed for several years before entering light charter service just three seasons ago. The result? A pristine Leopard 45 that still gleams like she just left the Robertson & Caine factory floor. Everything shines, everything works, and everything is exactly where it should be — because we live with it when you’re not here.

We welcome just four guests at a time — no more — ensuring your week is intimate, spacious, and entirely unrushed. It’s like borrowing a very spoiled friend’s yacht… one who insists on pampering you at every turn.

The Leopard 45 was built for people who love to live outside. Sisu’s oversized forward cockpit offers breezy, shaded comfort with unobstructed views — perfect for lounging while underway (no ducking the boom, no awkward headroom). Aft, you’ll find a full dining setup, loungers, sunbeds, Bluetooth speakers, and a shade awning that drops faster than sunset rum prices. The raised helm keeps the captain in the conversation (not stranded on a flybridge), and you’re always welcome to take the wheel and join in on the fun.

Meals are fresh, colorful, and crafted with care — breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily, with three rotating options to choose from at each sitting. At 5 o’clock sharp, the cocktail shaker comes out, the playlists roll, and the toasts begin.

Four guests. One immaculate catamaran. Two slightly nutty (and wildly fun) crew who’ll treat you like family from day one. Come let us ruin every other vacation you’ll ever take.

Water Toys & Diving – Because “Relaxing” Looks Different for Everyone

Toy Locker Includes:
• 2 Stand-Up Paddleboards
• 2 Underwater scooters ($100 per charge)
• 10-ft circular floating island
• Full snorkel sets (masks, fins, and more)
• Fishing gear (rods, lures — BVI fishing license required)

We also offer an eFoil for rental ($200 per charge) — but for everyone’s safety (and for the eFoil’s continued survival), guests must first complete a short training session with a local professional instructor. We do not have a foiling instructor on board and strictly enforce this policy.

SCUBA Diving is available directly from the yacht, led by Captain Frik, your onboard divemaster. Dives are $75 per person and include tanks, weights, and guided exploration. A dive compressor is on board, and we also offer rendezvous diving with local operators upon request. For optimal enjoyment and smooth sailing, we recommend one dive per day (no night dives), allowing plenty of time to relax, recharge, and travel to the next destination. Just bring your valid certification card — Petro will time the post-dive snacks perfectly.

Offered by DMA Yachting, the impressive charter yacht SISU is a 45 ft sailing catamaran. The highlights of SISU are her generous space and fantastic layout. SISU spends the summer and winter season in British Virgin Islands. She was completed by the famous yacht builder Leopard in 2019. The expansive yacht layout features 2 large cabins and easily accommodates a group of 4 guests.

SISU is offered primarily as a sailing catamaran. The the core layout is spread out from the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck is expansive, with a comfortable dining and seating area and usually it is where you, as a charter guest, spend most of your time. The tastefully decorated cabins are located in the 2 massive hulls. The cabins are connected by stairs to the main saloon - roomy, comfortable and pleasant. Multiple portholes add to the feeling of connection with the discovered environment.

The sailboat features 2 X YANMAR 45HP engines .

Crew

Crew of SISU|Captain Captain

Crew of SISU|Chef/First Mate Chef/First Mate

Captain: Frik Oliver

Captain Frik

Farm kid turned tech entrepreneur, Frik’s journey went something like this: grow up riding tractors, earn a PhD in computers/management/information systems, build and sell a company by 27… then trade boardrooms for blue water. He’s explored 106 countries (24 of them aboard Sisu), and never looked back.

A certified Rescue Diver and Divemaster, Frik is also a WWII warbird pilot, paragliding and ultralight enthusiast, and once — famously — turned his tent into makeshift elephant furniture. In his spare time, he writes novels, builds sailing apps, and co-produces the YouTube channel Sailing Sisu (16,000+ subscribers). And he still hasn’t run out of stories.

But what guests rave about most? Cocktail hour. Frik is a full-blown tiki nerd. He roasts his own spices, makes falernum from scratch, distills secret syrups, and squeezes every lime by hand. Each afternoon, he resurrects authentic 1934–1948 tiki recipes from Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic’s — the real ones, not the neon tourist imitations. Every cocktail arrives with a splash of history: who invented it, which Hollywood star smuggled the recipe, or how it once bribed a naval admiral. From Zombies and Mai Tais to long-lost classics from yellowed notebooks, sundowners on Sisu are part mixology, part storytelling, and 100% legendary.

Chef & First Mate Petro

Once a corporate powerhouse, Petro built and ran two successful insurance brokerages before swapping high heels for bare feet and the open sea. She started sailing from scratch and quickly logged over 36,000 nautical miles — outrunning most in both ambition and actual speed.

An adrenaline junkie at heart, Petro has driven 4x4s through crocodile-infested rivers, flown gyrocopters over stampeding antelope, and pulled high-G Lomčevaks in an Extra 300 stunt plane — but still makes time to be the kind of hostess who gets actual poems in guest thank-you notes.

In the galley, Petro is a true artist. Every plate is a visual masterpiece — think vibrant colors, microgreens, edible flowers — and every dish is packed with rich, layered flavor. From Caribbean-Thai fusion to mango dessert sorcery, her cuisine is both daring and deeply comforting.

And just when guests think they’ve seen it all, Petro ups the ante with three themed dinners each week:
• Italian Night — red, white, and green everywhere, candles, handmade pasta, and a tiramisu that might make you propose.
• Moroccan Night — spice-laden dishes, colorful lanterns, and a feast that feels like a Marrakech dream.
• Pirates of the Caribbean Night — treasure chests, scattered doubloons, spooky skulls, Captain Jack Sparrow eyeliner on Frik (don’t
ask), and seafood Calypso herself would approve of.

Together, Frik and Petro turn every charter into an unforgettable blend of adventure, flavor, and fun — where you don’t just feel like a guest… you feel like family.

SISU
2024
This was a 'real' charter, on a real liveaboard with actual owners who have sailed this boat 30K+ miles.   Typical charters are bare boats with Captains and First Mates who shuffle between different boats and can't tell you a lot about the boat you are on.   Chartering with Sisu allows one to:
* See downwind sails in action (charter boats don't have this capability)
* Night sail (charter companies don't allow this)
* Go places outside a charter company's allowed cruising area
* Get drone footage to document your vacation.
*  See how a proper liveaboard is provisioned
*  Scuba dive (charter boats have snorkeling and paddleboard gear, but dive gear is not typically included on catamarans).

I learned a bunch from Frik on sailing craft and technique, and this added to learnings from previous charters. In addition, he had a lot of background knowledge about boat upgrades and maintenance, lessons learned, options he would and wouldn't take if he had to do it again, etc.
And Petro has a wealth of experience on how to efficiently provision a boat, plan meals, and how to manage all the logistics.  And her meals were amazing.

If owning a sailing catamaran is in your future, this is a great crew from which to learn.

Greetings
Rob

Our recent catamaran charter aboard Sisu was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we stepped on board, we knew we were in for an extraordinary adventure. Captain Frik and Chef Petro created an experience that far exceeded our expectations, combining impeccable service, local expertise, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel at home in paradise.  The catamaran was spacious, luxurious, and immaculately maintained.

Captain Frik was the cornerstone of our adventure. His professionalism, knowledge of the islands, and friendly demeanor set the tone for an incredible trip. Frik’s ability to navigate the waters of the BVI with ease and his skill in selecting the best anchorages made every day feel like a new discovery. Frik even ensured we arrived at the perfect time to avoid crowds. His storytelling and knowledge of local culture added depth to every destination.

Chef Petro was nothing short of a culinary magician. Every meal she prepared was a masterpiece, combining fresh, local ingredients with world-class technique that rivaled any five-star restaurant. The dining experience aboard Sisu was elevated by her creativity and passion for her craft.

What truly made this trip extraordinary was the warm hospitality of Frik and Petro. They went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, from greeting us with welcome drinks to creating special moments. Their genuine passion for what they do was evident in every interaction, and they made us feel not like passengers, but like family.

We cannot recommend this experience highly enough and are already dreaming of the day we can set sail with Frik and Petro again!

Attentive Service: Your attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction did not go unnoticed. From ensuring our comfort on board to anticipating our needs, you consistently demonstrated a high level of attentiveness that contributed to the overall enjoyment of the trip.

Flexible and Accommodating: Your flexibility and willingness to tailor the experience to our preferences did not go unnoticed. Whether adjusting the itinerary to accommodate our interests or providing additional insights into local attractions, your flexibility enhanced the overall experience.

My wife and I have had the pleasure of being hosted by Petro, many times. Without doubt, Petro’s cooking is one of the best we have experienced.

She has a wide repertoire of cuisines and can cook a delicious meal from simple foods available, or a multiple coursed affair. We have been lucky enough to sample a range of these.

Petro is clean and personable. She has a great sense of humour but can be calm and gentle when the situation demands. She is an incredible hostess and knows intuitively what to do under different circumstances. She is very safety conscious and would not endanger herself or clients.

Her galley is immaculate, and her food hygiene impeccable. My wife has certainly noticed this.

We have known Petro for a long time and can highly recommend her catering and culinary skills, and also her as a person.

Petro will cater for any dietary needs.

Sun downers at the end of the day, tend to be mainly cocktails, and are absolutely amazing.

Petro has endless talents with her cooking skills, I’d never call her a cook but a chef, and would welcome her on any vessel that I sail as Master.

Petro van Biljoen is a skilled culinary artist with a wide repertoire of cooking skills demonstrated by her ability to produce delicious meals from simple to fancy, single course to many courses, intimate appetizers to large groups.

In addition to her exceptional skill creating delicious food in her galley, she keeps her workspace immaculate, has a sunny and positive disposition, is an incredibly hard worker and is the most gracious of hosts. I would recommend her without hesitation for any position but especially on a yacht where she understands living in close quarters, getting along with other people, tidiness, cleanliness, and the value of a positive attitude.

As a person with many years of experience on and around yachts I cannot think of a more qualified cook and/or host. Time aboard Sisu with Petro in charge of the food is a first class experience.

March 2023
My husband and I joined SISU for a crewed charter in March of 2023. They were so kind to bring us aboard for a week long adventure. They not only taught us so much about sailing, they also fed us with the most delicious meals. Petro was our chef for our charter and she makes amazing food. We woke up to breakfasts with pancakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes, home made bread and fresh fruits. While we were eating these amazing breakfasts, Petro was already preparing our feasts for dinner. We enjoyed a delicious lamb shank dinner with homemade gravy and veggies.

She was so gracious with her cooking and the variety of foods she prepared for us. One evening we had a group of at least 14 adults over for evening sundowners and Petro made this beautiful charcuterie board with a vast variety of meats, cheeses, veggies, fruits, crackers and bread. Her food was simply made from love and her passion to serve others some of her favorite foods. Petro also made us some delicious drinks that were always island themed.

Petro was so kind and by the end of our charter we felt like family. Together they made our sailing vacation so enjoyable and gave us memories we will never forget. They made us feel very special and we left very happy with our choice to charter with them as our crew.

There was also a crew member who was gluten intolerant and Petro made sure to prepare foods for them as well.

Sincerely yours, Kimberly Budreau
