Advertised by DMA Yachting, the astonishing charter yacht GYRFALCON is a 60 ft sailing catamaran. GYRFALCON spends the summer and winter season in British Virgin Islands. She was constructed by the well-known ship builder Sunreef Yachts in 2019. The ingenious yacht layout features 5 generous cabins and comfortably accommodates a group of 10 guests.

GYRFALCON is presented primarily as a sailing catamaran. The yacht layout radiates from the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck is generous, with a prominent dining and seating area and that's where most of the delicious meals are served. The tastefully decorated cabins are located below the main saloon, connected by stairs (inquire about handicapped access). The cabins offer designer mattrace beds and feature ensuite bathrooms. Multiple portholes add to the feeling of connection with the discovered environment.

Syl’s journey began on the shores of the Northumberland Strait, along Canada’s Atlantic Coast, where life revolves around the sea. From an early age, he was immersed in sailing, spending nine years at his local sailing school. While racing dinghies was a thrill, what he loved most was simply being out on the water. The salty Atlantic air has always stirred something deep within him—sailing feels like second nature, awakening a sixth sense.

After an entrepreneurial career and seeing his sons off to college, Syl decided it was time to chart a new course. He pursued his passion, earning his Captain RYA Yachtmaster Certification along with all the necessary qualifications to become a professional yacht captain. Since then, he’s never looked back.

Known for his kind and generous spirit, Syl is a calm, confident, and respectful captain who loves engaging with his guests. He collaborates closely with charter guests to design custom itineraries, whether that’s sailing to a secluded beach or exploring must-see island destinations. With Syl, you’re part of the itinerary decisions—simply choose the direction, and he’ll ensure every moment is unforgettable, creating lifelong memories while sailing in the moment.

Chef Helen
Born and raised near Los Angeles in a family with a rich culinary heritage, Helen started cooking in her grandmother's kitchen at a very young age. She learned about butchery, organic gardening, and American Southwest ancestral cooking.

Family vacations consisted of camping, boating, and deep-sea fishing in Baja California, where she would catch and prepare fresh seafood for large groups of family and friends.

Helen graduated from Le Cordon Bleu French Cooking School in 2007 and continued to fine-tune her craft as a chef at Passages Malibu Addiction Treatment Center and as a chef for top NFL players at their training institute in Irvine, CA. She has prepared food for many high-profile clients and for the most discriminating palates in private estates, corporations, and clubs.

She was the Executive Chef at the Los Angeles International Airport Private Lounges, overseeing the Delta Club, Virgin Atlantic First Class, and the award-winning ("Skytrax Lounge of the Year") Star Alliance Lounge. She also served as Executive Chef at the American Express Centurion Lounge at Miami International Airport, where she worked alongside celebrity chef Michelle Bernstein.

Helen eventually combined her passions for cooking and being at sea by working as a professional yacht chef. She has worked on many yachts, cooking in various parts of the world, inspired by the adventure, the guests, the locale, and unique culinary finds. She loves what she does, and it shows.

Third Mate Liz Beal
Growing up in North Carolina, Liz was drawn to water and adventure from an early age—it was hard to pull her out of the water during family trips filled with boating and beach outings, as well as summers spent as a white-water canoe guide and camp counselor. After graduating from college in 2009, Liz pursued her dream and moved to the Virgin Islands.

In St. John, Liz honed her skills through a mosaic of opportunities in the watersports industry, ranging from scuba diving and sailing to eventually owning and operating a kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and hiking tour guide business. She spent 14 years in the Caribbean creating meaningful, fun, and safe adventures for all types of travelers. Liz continues to feel immense gratitude for the opportunity to facilitate special moments and recognizes the sacredness and joy inherent in exploring a new place or learning a new skill.

Fueled by black coffee and bad jokes, Liz is excited and motivated to work with a high-caliber team and use her skills and experience to build the best charter experience possible.

Hope our paths cross again soon!

Our group of 8 proved to be no challenge for Tanya even though our group coordinator confirmed only 6 passengers for our charter. Tanya managed to prepare delicious meals for 8 with provisions for 6 every day without ever disappointing us. From airy, velvety scrambled eggs to perfectly crisp bacon and fresh poke bowls to scrumptious sweets — we all wanted to take Tanya home with us. Not only were the meals amazing, they were plated beautifully and not a minute later than when expected. What’s more, she aided the captain in mooring and prepping our group’s trips to land amongst other things, proving she is an expert multitasker. Towards the end our charter when she was done artfully preparing our meals and leaving the galley in pristine conditions, we had an opportunity to engage with her more than we had throughout the trip and confirmed what we already knew: Tanya is a sweet, talented, adventure seeker who loves exploring as much as we do which made it extra special. She is an asset on any vessel. As is the Captain we were fortunate to have: Jacob Albano.

Family Adventure Out Of This World

Took our family on our 1st charter and it was a blast. Learning to paddleboard (great video's), diving & snorkeling, great fun. There was an underwater snorkeling spot Capt Jake took us to and it was unbelievable. After long days in the ocean we enjoyed evenings in the bean bag chairs watching the sunsets with a well made sun downer. Chef's food was tasty and very well presented with a solid nod to seafood and italian cuisine which we love! Thanks for a fantastic week!

Great 2 Weeks!

We just got off after a 2 week charter and wow, it was fantastic! Capt Jake knew all of the best diving/snorkeling spots and even helped us learn to sail abit. Chef was amazing, food was outstanding - we are very picky eaters (whole foods kind of people) and he provisioned and prepared at an exceptionally high level. Yacht was great, loved the floating bean bag chairs and the underwater scooters which allowed for extended snorkeling/exploring (they last over an hour :) ) Thanks Capt, Chef & 1st mate, had a great time!"

Since then, he’s never looked back.<br /> <br /> Known for his kind and generous spirit, Syl is a calm, confident, and respectful captain who loves engaging with his guests. She learned about butchery, organic gardening, and American Southwest ancestral cooking.<br /> <br /> Family vacations consisted of camping, boating, and deep-sea fishing in Baja California, where she would catch and prepare fresh seafood for large groups of family and friends.<br /> <br /> Helen graduated from Le Cordon Bleu French Cooking School in 2007 and continued to fine-tune her craft as a chef at Passages Malibu Addiction Treatment Center and as a chef for top NFL players at their training institute in Irvine, CA. She has prepared food for many high-profile clients and for the most discriminating palates in private estates, corporations, and clubs.<br /> <br /> She was the Executive Chef at the Los Angeles International Airport Private Lounges, overseeing the Delta Club, Virgin Atlantic First Class, and the award-winning ("Skytrax Lounge of the Year") Star Alliance Lounge. Tanya managed to prepare delicious meals for 8 with provisions for 6 every day without ever disappointing us. From airy, velvety scrambled eggs to perfectly crisp bacon and fresh poke bowls to scrumptious sweets — we all wanted to take Tanya home with us. Not only were the meals amazing, they were plated beautifully and not a minute later than when expected. What’s more, she aided the captain in mooring and prepping our group’s trips to land amongst other things, proving she is an expert multitasker. Towards the end our charter when she was done artfully preparing our meals and leaving the galley in pristine conditions, we had an opportunity to engage with her more than we had throughout the trip and confirmed what we already knew: Tanya is a sweet, talented, adventure seeker who loves exploring as much as we do which made it extra special. She is an asset on any vessel. Tanya managed to prepare delicious meals for 8 with provisions for 6 every day without ever disappointing us. From airy, velvety scrambled eggs to perfectly crisp bacon and fresh poke bowls to scrumptious sweets — we all wanted to take Tanya home with us. Not only were the meals amazing, they were plated beautifully and not a minute later than when expected. What’s more, she aided the captain in mooring and prepping our group’s trips to land amongst other things, proving she is an expert multitasker. Towards the end our charter when she was done artfully preparing our meals and leaving the galley in pristine conditions, we had an opportunity to engage with her more than we had throughout the trip and confirmed what we already knew: Tanya is a sweet, talented, adventure seeker who loves exploring as much as we do which made it extra special. She is an asset on any vessel.
