SOVEREIGN Yacht Description

  • Two Jet Skis onboard:
Rare for a classic motor yacht, perfect for thrilling water fun exploring islands.
  • Seabob water scooter:
Premium Seabob lets guests glide underwater effortlessly, adding exciting aquatic adventures.
  • Spacious 5.18m/17' Boston Whaler Tender:
Ideal for shore excursions and accessing shallow bays others can't reach easily.

SOVEREIGN is what happens when a classic Burger hull meets a Palm Beach design binge and a modern refit budget. You get a 1966 Jack Hargrave–designed 100-footer that feels like a much larger yacht, with wide side decks, a proud bow and an aft deck big enough to actually live on, not tiptoe through.

The real play here is space and layout. Four ensuite cabins sleep 7–8 guests in practice: a full-beam king master plus a rare single cabin that’s perfect for a nanny, solo adult, or two kids who like each other, and two twin cabins for everyone else. It’s an old-school, owner-yacht layout optimized for real use, not just brochure photography.

Inside, it’s “Palm Beach chic” done by people who actually know what that means. Mid-century modern pieces, custom cabinetry, proper bar in the main salon, and a saloon that functions as an actual social hub: big lounge seating, large TV, and a formal dining area for 8 when you want to pretend emails don’t exist (while the Wi‑Fi quietly says otherwise).

Outside is where SOVEREIGN cheats the size class. The aft deck is essentially your outdoor living room, with built-in seating and a serious teak dining table. Up top, the bridge deck gives you another shaded or sunlit lounge zone, and the foredeck is a private sunpad bunker when you don’t feel like being “part of the group.” The extended stern works as a practical swim and boarding platform rather than a decorative overhang.

Low draft is the hidden feature. At around 1.68 m / 5'6", SOVEREIGN gets into shallow bays and coves that knock deeper yachts out of contention. Backing that up: a 17' Boston Whaler tender plus a compact but well-chosen toy set — Seabob, paddleboards, surf boards, and snorkel gear — so the water time doesn’t devolve into everyone fighting over one inflatable donut.

Under the skin, the yacht is not a museum piece. Repowered with twin Cummins QSM11s, refit most recently in 2020, with stabilizers, full air conditioning and proper systems. Three professional crew run what is essentially a classic American yacht with modern reliability baked in.

If you want a floating nightclub with a helipad, this isn’t it. If you want a intelligently restored, low-draft, mid-century classic that behaves like a bigger yacht and quietly does the job for a small group or family, SOVEREIGN is exactly on target.

Plus Expenses - add APA to the price you see

Plus Expenses arrangement includes the boat and crew only (without tip).

All additional/variable expenses such as Gas and Food are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) - an additional deposit that is added on top of the charter price.

The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption).

For a motor yacht like SOVEREIGN, the expected APA is 25% to 40% of the charter price ($12,000 - $19,200), making the charter cost $60,000 to $67,200. Exact amount will be confirmed after inquiry.

You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled).

The remainder of the APA is returned after charter.

7 day charter 48,000USD to 50,000USD 9,600USD to 15,000USD 57,600USD to 65,000USD Standard charter rate, base for all calculations.
3 day charter 24,000USD to 25,000USD 4,800USD to 7,500USD 28,800USD to 32,500USD The usual formula is the 7 day charter rate divided by 6, times the number of days (3).
Boat policy might differ.
48,000USD / 6 * 3 days = 24,000USD

All prices are generated by a calculator and serve as a guide for new charterers. Any additional information of the Price Details section has priority over above. Availability is always subject to confirmation. Gratuity not included for it's discretionary character, usually 5%-25% of the Base Price.

Crew

Captain: Mike Kiernan

Captain Doug runs Sovereign like he’s crossing home waters, turning years of serious sea miles into a calm, precise charter that feels effortless for you. He knows how to keep a classic yacht running tight and your days running smooth, from quiet anchorages to clean, on-time passages.
  • Over four years as Captain on SOVEREIGN.
  • Holds a 3,000-ton USCG Master license.
  • Charter experience with high-profile guests, including Jackie Onassis.
  • Extensive cruising in USA, Bahamas, Caribbean and Mediterranean, including build involvement at Feadship, Codecasa and CRN.

Willem is the deck guy who grew up in Atlantic surf, reads the water fast, and quietly rigs each day so guests slide from relaxed cruising into easy, well-run adventures. He brings big-yacht expedition habits onto this classic, making small details offshore feel locked-in and under control.
  • From the Netherlands, raised on the northern coast of Portugal.
  • Professional superyacht experience in the Mediterranean, including an expedition yacht to remote cruising grounds.
  • Holds Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate.
  • Speaks English, Dutch, Portuguese and Spanish.

Jeffrey is the quiet engineer who makes the classic hardware disappear into the background, keeping the boat cool, powered and reliable so your trip runs without a hitch. He treats machinery like a precision shop job, so you get smooth rides instead of stories about breakdowns.
  • Trained as a machinist, reaching Machinist 2nd Class after four years in a machine shop.
  • Over 40 years working aboard charter and private yachts.
  • Experience on yachts in the Bahamas, Caribbean, New York, New England, Great Lakes and Mediterranean.
  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
