Captain Reinhardt is a certified 200t Master of Yachts with a large amount of knowledge on all things boating and water toys related.
Growing up in South Africa, Reinhardt grew to love the outdoors and all the fun activities it has to offer. He has spent the last couple of years pursuing his passion of the ocean and the outdoors. From sailing countless miles across the Mediterranean and the red sea as crew, to Captaining on boats of all shapes and sizes, to hiking and mountain biking through many mountain ranges and single tracks all over South Africa, to skydiving in Dubai, Reinhardt has an adventurous spirit that you are bound to love on your vacation.
Chef Jason:
Chef Jason is a chef with 17 years of experience in the culinary industry. His passion for cooking runs deep in his family roots and nothing brings him more joy than to be able to share that passion with the world. He has worked with an extensive array of cuisines and has been a student of the culinary industry, maintaining a constant pulse on the newest trends in the culinary world through a range of cookbooks and conversations with his talented peers. He finds it very important to stay up to date with trends in dietary restrictions and food allergens, in an effort to ensure that everyone at your table feels included. Jason would love to be able to showcase his passion that he has developed over the years and to be able to create lasting memories with this guests on Southern Queen.

The amazing duo was knowledgeable, safe, professional and accommodating. I think you are aware that this was a trial run for Kelly and I potentially acquiring a catamaran and Rein patiently answered all my never ending questions about the boat, sailing, provisioning, power systems, options and market trends. <br /> <br /> Rein and Jason worked tirelessly to insure that we not only had excellent meals and drinks, but insured that every guest had a positive experience and worked to meet everyone’s unique needs. <br /> <br /> They also need to be recognized for their quick action, when one of our senior guests, was struggling in the water and called out for help. They catered to our every ask - making drinks, special food items and generally just doing everything they could to ensure we didn't have to lift a finger. They loved on our 4-year old girlie as though she was their own. They joked around in the cheekiest of ways with the adults in our family (30's, 40's & 60 year olds) and enjoyed many games nights with us in the evenings, including teaching us one of their own. At a moments notice, they arranged to have a guitar on board for us to use which made the music lovers in our family so happy. The boat is new and luxurious and gorgeous, and the USVIs are breathtaking. But more than the setting, what really blew us away, was our crew. Paula and Simon turned this into the trip of a lifetime. We were Paula’s first all-vegan charter but you would have thought she was a completely vegan chef. Every single meal was 5-star quality. We are so spoiled now. How will we ever eat well again without Paula?? Right off the bat, you get the sense that Simon is just one of those people who is extraordinarily capable and can do anything. There was a storm our first day with very rough seas but we weren’t concerned even for a second. We trusted his judgement and skill without hesitation right off the bat. He also taught our 12-yr-old daughters how to wakeboard and spent hours and hours pulling them around in the dinghy, and doing it enthusiastically! Paula’s trivia game on the final night was the best. We became friends with Simon and Paula and miss them a ton. Growing up at the sea lead to a childhood heavily involved with water sports. Simon is an avid scuba diver and free diver, although his first love has always been surfing. He played waterpolo for his high school and university and after graduating he worked as an airline pilot for 6 years in Africa and the Middle East. <br /> <br /> A sailing holiday with friends in 2017 inspired him to obtain his Yachtmaster license. The sailing life then took ahold, and Simon has been working on boats ever since. Starting out as a deckhand on a 38 meter sail boat in France, Simon went on to become a lead skipper for a flotilla company in the Mediterranean, and has done two Atlantic crossings delivering new Leopard catamarans to their owners. <br /> <br /> Simon also has a passion for cooking, hosting and entertaining, and is very excited to show you some amazing spots around the Caribbean<br /> <br /> Chef Paula: Paula grew up in Gothenburg, Sweden, surrounded by food and cooking, with a dad who’s a chef and a mom with a huge passion for baking. Her own culinary journey started when she was 14 years old and got her her first job at the local french café in Gothenburg. Her culinary journey took her to some amazing places, where she met the most amazing people, gave her some irreplaceable experiences and of course, introduced her to the yachting industry. <br /> <br /> In 2017 she applied for Quarterdeck Hostess Academy. Now 5 seasons later, she has developed a great experience in cooking and her presentation. All the time she has spent in the service industry has resulted in good service and finesse. Her way of working contributes to a successful and fun charter, her happy and caring personality makes you feel as if you were home at your grandmothers place!
