The crew are ready to provide you with an outstanding charter experience. Their love of the ocean is truly contagious. the crew of SV Awatea are ready to turn your dreams into a reality. Young, energetic and motivated to explore remote areas, Fraser (35) and Olivia (33) are the ultimate team to guide you on your bespoke adventure aboard the luxury performance catamaran SV Awatea.

Introduced by DMA Yachting, the impressive charter yacht AWATEA is a 63 ft sailing catamaran. The primary distinction of AWATEA are her elegant profile and inviting socializing areas. AWATEA spends the summer and winter season in British Virgin Islands. She was constructed by the renowned boatbuilder . in 2019. The well-planned yacht layout features 5 generous cabins and easily accommodates up to 10 guests.

AWATEA is classified primarily as a sailing catamaran. The the core layout is spread out from the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck features a variety of seating areas and that's where most of the meals are served. The immersive cabins are located below the main saloon, connected by stairs (inquire about handicapped access). The cabins offer designer mattrace beds and feature ensuite bathrooms. Multiple portholes offer desirable views, while providing privacy if needed.

Captain: Fraser Cameron

Boating, fishing, spear fishing, surfing, living off the land and adventure in general runs in Fraser’s blood. Fraser started out dingy sailing, and then coastal cruising on small sail boats and power boats on the northeastern coast of New Zealand before heading offshore to work in the superyacht industry. He is a natural captain, a qualified marine engineer and has a Bachelor of Science in Marine and Coastal Ecology. With an insatiable appetite for adventure, this captain is well suited to guests looking to get off the beaten track to search for adventure and adrenaline. After five years in the private luxury yacht charter scene, he is well seasoned in what it takes to provide a high quality, luxury charter.

Olivia started cooking at a young age and through the years has developed a wholesome culinary style that is sure to satisfy after a busy day on the water. With more than 10 years experience in the hospitality industry and through managerial roles she knows what it takes to provide quality service. Olivia became fluent in Spanish while living there at 18 and is keen to practice her skills with any Spanish speaking guests. As a family, Fraser and Olivia sailed their previous catamaran, an Outremer 45, from NZ to Fiji which they then circumnavigated and then returned to NZ. Over the six month trip Olivia developed great practical sailing knowledge. Olivia is also a marine biologist and a keen water woman who is currently learning to surf and spearfish when she isn’t either homeschooling their three gorgeous kids or completing the many daily tasks she is responsible for with a life at sea.

Jess is not only our third crew member, she is also Fraser's cousin. She has a positive attitude and a contagious smile who will make you feel welcome from the minute you step on board. She is energetic and not known to say no to whatever opportunities arise. With a love for outdoor activities like wakeboarding, surfing, hiking and camping, Jess is a perfect addition to this adventurous team. Creativity is also a big part of Jess's life, often expressed through projects in mixed media and textiles, she has recently completed a Bachelor of Design Innovation. She is our on board mixologist and makes a killer Orange Coconut Margarita!

As a family, Fraser and Olivia sailed their previous catamaran, an Outremer 45, from NZ to Fiji which they then circumnavigated and then returned to NZ. Over the six month trip Olivia developed great practical sailing knowledge. When we asked them to help with coral research in the Exumas, they enthusiastically said yes. They went above and beyond to make sure our every need was met. Fraser is an accomplished captain who got us where we needed to be, and worked with the research team to make sure they were able to accomplish all of their mission goals over the course of several days. A huge benefit was the scuba tanks and air compressor on board which made it possible to bring fewer tanks, as well as do multiple dives a day without the need to refill or pick up new tanks. Olivia is a great cook and made sure we ate well throughout the trip. it didn’t end there. With only a week’s notice, another scientific research team needed a vessel to assist with coral restoration in Abaco. Again, Fraser and Olivia didn’t give it a second thought and volunteered to help out. Lastly, another research trip almost had to be canceled last minute because the original boat had a mechanical issue. As we put the word out that we needed a replacement asap, Awatea answered the call, again making themselves available to help with a research expedition – this time all the way down in Little Inagua, one of the most remote islands in the Bahamas. This was a big ask; fourteen days in total including travel to and from the island. The research team was also larger than usual. That was no problem for this crew, making sure the many different research objectives were accomplished, while also accommodating nine guests for two weeks. After five years in the super yacht industry, Fraser returned to New Zealand to complete his Bachelor of Science in Marine and Coastal Ecology which is where he met Olivia.<br /> <br /> Olivia started cooking at a young age and through the years has developed a wholesome culinary style that is sure to satisfy after a busy day on the water. With more than 10 years experience in the hospitality industry and through managerial roles she has developed great customer service skills. Olivia became fluent in Spanish while living there at 18 and is keen to practice her skills with any Spanish speaking guests. As a family, Fraser and Olivia sailed their previous catamaran, an Outremer 45, from NZ to Fiji which they then circumnavigated and then returned to NZ. Over the six month trip Olivia developed great practical sailing knowledge. Olivia is also a marine biologist and a keen water woman who is currently learning to surf and spearfish when she isn’t either homeschooling their three gorgeous kids or completing the many daily tasks she is responsible for with a life at sea. </p></div> </div> </div> </div>
