This 7-day BVI yacht charter itinerary is the most extensive version of the classic BVI loop, adding a full-day detour to the remote island of Anegada.

It’s tailored for charter guests looking to explore the British Virgin Islands in depth – from iconic snorkeling sites like The Indians and The Baths at Virgin Gorda, to legendary beach bars such as Soggy Dollar and Willy T, and on to serene overnight anchorages and the untouched coral reefs of Anegada Island.

DAY 1. Nanny Cay to Norman Island

Day 1 kicks off from Nanny Cay Marina, where most crewed yacht charters in the BVI begin. We recommend arriving the day before or in the morning via ferry from St. Thomas or private water taxi from Red Hook. Most yachts welcome guests with drinks and a short safety briefing before setting off.

From Nanny Cay, it is a short cruise south to Norman Island – a legendary pirate hideout said to have inspired Treasure Island. Here you can snorkel the famous Pirate Caves before anchoring overnight in The Bight. In the evening, we recommend taking the dinghy over to Willy T, the BVI’s infamous floating bar known for its strong drinks and party atmosphere. (Note, Willy T is only family-friendly during the day).

  • 🛥️ Start your charter at Nanny Cay, Tortola
  • 🤿 Snorkel at the Pirate Caves on Norman Island
  • 🍹 Grab a drink at the iconic Willy T bar
  • ⚓ Overnight anchorage at The Bight

DAY 2: Norman Island to Cooper Island (via The Indians & Peter Island)

Begin your day with a snorkel stop at The Indians, a dramatic rock formation off Pelican Island and one of the BVI’s top snorkeling sites.

From there, cruise to Peter Island for a lunch beach break before continuing to Salt Island for a dive at the RMS Rhone wreck. This 19th-century mail ship is one of the bucket-list dive sites in the BVI. Free diving and snorkeling are also possible at the shallow parts of the wreck.

Finish the day at Cooper Island Beach Club, known for its relaxed atmosphere, boutique shopping, and the Caribbean’s largest rum bar.

  • 🤿 Snorkel The Indians reef site
  • 🏖️ Beach stop at Peter Island
  • 🌊 Dive the RMS Rhone shipwreck
  • 🍸 Sunset drinks at Cooper Island Beach Club

DAY 3: Norman Island to Virgin Gorda – The Baths & CocoMaya

After breakfast in The Bight, you’ll cruise up the Sir Francis Drake Channel toward Virgin Gorda – one of the most scenic stretches of the trip. Anchor near Spanish Town and spend the morning enjoying the yacht: paddleboards, sea scooters, or just floating in turquoise water.

In the afternoon, go ashore to explore The Baths – one of the BVI’s most iconic natural landmarks. Formed by volcanic activity, these giant granite boulders create a maze of tunnels, pools, and shaded grottoes right at the water’s edge. It’s one of the best family activities in the BVI, and always a hit with first-time visitors.

For dinner, we always recommend CocoMaya. It’s right on the beach, right next to The Baths, and consistently one of the best dining spots in the BVI – creative cocktails, upscale but laid-back atmosphere, and unbeatable sunset views. At night, it turns into a beach lounge with music, a firepit, and a relaxed vibe that’s perfect for both adults and kids.

  • 🛥️ Cruise from Norman Island to Virgin Gorda
  • 💦 Morning with water toys off the yacht
  • 🪨 Explore The Baths – volcanic boulders & tidal pools
  • 🌅 Sunset dinner & cocktails at CocoMaya

DAY 4: Virgin Gorda to North Sound & The Dog Islands

After breakfast, cruise around Virgin Gorda’s northern tip and into North Sound — home to some of the BVI’s most exclusive anchorages. This is where you’ll find Leverick Bay, Saba Rock, and the legendary Bitter End Yacht Club.

Start the day with a snorkel or dive stop at The Dog Islands, just offshore. These rocky islets are great for spotting marine life, and if conditions allow, you might even visit the intentionally sunk airplane wreck near Great Dog — a unique shallow dive.

Once anchored in North Sound, you can take a tender over to Saba Rock for lunch or stop at Leverick Bay for a spa treatment. In the evening, we recommend visiting Bitter End Yacht Club — recently rebuilt and back in top form, with great waterfront dining and a low-key upscale vibe.

  • 🤿 Snorkel or dive at The Dog Islands
  • 🛥️ Cruise into North Sound, Virgin Gorda
  • 💆 Optional spa time at Leverick Bay
  • 🥂 Dinner or drinks at Bitter End Yacht Club

DAY 5: North Sound to Anegada

Today you’ll cruise north to Anegada — the BVI’s only coral island and a complete contrast to the rest of the route. Flat, remote, and ringed by reef, Anegada feels like its own world.

The highlight here is snorkeling or diving the Anegada Barrier Reef, the fourth-largest in the world. It’s home to vibrant coral, turtles, rays, and reef sharks. In the afternoon, explore inland by rental scooter or taxi to spot the wild flamingos at the salt ponds — binoculars help, but often you can see them from shore.

For dinner, it’s all about Anegada lobster. We recommend Lobster Trap or Wonky Dog, both with open-air dining right on the water and some of the best seafood in the BVI.

  • 🛥️ Cruise 14 nm north to Anegada
  • 🤿 Snorkel the Anegada Barrier Reef
  • 🦩 Visit the flamingo salt ponds
  • 🦞 Dinner ashore with fresh Anegada lobster

DAY 6: Anegada to Guana Island – Monkey Point

From Anegada, you’ll cruise back south toward Guana Island — a private nature reserve with one of the best snorkeling spots in the BVI: Monkey Point.

This marine sanctuary is known for calm, clear water and rich marine life — schools of baitfish, turtles, and sometimes even tarpon. Snorkeling here feels like swimming through a living aquarium.

The rest of the day is laid-back. Enjoy the quiet anchorage, swim off the yacht, or take in the views with a sundowner in hand. It’s a perfect contrast to the earlier, busier stops — a slower, more peaceful day in nature.

  • 🛥️ Cruise from Anegada to Guana Island
  • 🐢 Snorkel the protected reef at Monkey Point
  • 🌿 Enjoy nature and calm anchorage
  • 🍹 Have sunset cocktails onboard with stunning sunset views

DAY 7: Guana Island to Jost Van Dyke – White Bay

Your final day takes you west to Jost Van Dyke, the BVI’s most laid-back island and home to the most famous beach bar in the BVI: Soggy Dollar. Anchor off White Bay, then swim or dinghy ashore to spend the afternoon in the sand with a Painkiller in hand — it’s the original here.

Soggy Dollar gets lively, especially in the afternoon, but if you want to escape the crowds, just walk a bit down the beach. You’ll find quieter spots with fewer people in the water and a more local feel.

For those curious, Foxy’s in nearby Great Harbour is a well-known sailor hangout — casual BBQ, drinks, and plenty of character.

  • 🏖️ Anchor off White Bay, Jost Van Dyke
  • 🍹 Swim ashore to Soggy Dollar Bar for a Painkiller
  • 🌊 Visit the Bubbly Pool (optional hike)
  • 🎶 Optional visit to Foxy’s in Great Harbour
