The BVI is about the kindest place in the world to find out you love being on boats. The islands wrap around the Sir Francis Drake Channel, so you sail in protected water with the open Atlantic swell blocked by the islands themselves, and the hops between anchorages are short, often under an hour.
Nights are calm too: you sleep on a mooring ball in a sheltered bay, not rolling at open anchor. Catamarans, which dominate the BVI fleet, add their own stability: two hulls, no heeling, wide flat decks.
The honest caveats are the Anegada passage, the one truly open leg if you head there, and the breezier Christmas Winds weeks in early winter. A good captain times both, and if anyone in your group is nervous, tell us and we will shape the route gentle.
