Motor Yachts
- Increasing Popularity: Crewed Motor yacht charters are becoming increasingly popular in the previously catamaran-dominated British Virgin Islands, with many coming over from St Thomas Yacht Haven Grande Marina.
- Faster & More Luxurious: The advantages of a motor yacht include speed, comfort, and luxury amenities such as jacuzzis and jet skis. If you want to see more and get to places faster, a motor yacht charter is preferable to a catamaran or sailboat. (A catamaran typically cruises at 8-12 knots; a larger motor yacht does around 15 to 20 knots, with some yachts able to reach 30+ knots.)
- Best Charter Activities: Start your day at Norman Island before visiting the wreck of RMS Rhone! Arrange a historian to make the day interesting or arrange for the crew to bury the treasure for a Pirate Day. Or dive on the third-largest barrier reef in the world at Anegada before getting a taste of the best Caribbean lobster prepared by your private chef. And don’t miss out on sipping cocktails at the world-famous beach bars of Foxy’s and Soggy Dollar Bar!!
- Ideal for Lager Groups: Most BVI motor yacht charters can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests, making it an ideal choice for families or a large group of friends sharing a luxury yacht charter and splitting the bill.

Dear Cool Breeze and all of it’s wonderful inhabitants. Words cannot begin to describe the magical 4 days we spent with you. From snorkeling to swimming with Captain Dennis, to enjoying every bite of Alyse’s superb cooking, it has been a dream. We will be back with friends and family. Thank you for the trip of a lifetime.

The Luxury Yacht Fleet is Growing in the British Virgin Islands
The British Virgin Islands are going through a phase of major development, with new marinas and facilities aimed at establishing a better base for locally serviced luxury yacht charters.
Many yacht charters move down the Caribbean chain, starting with the British Virgin Islands as the Bahamas become increasingly crowded with boats departing from Fort Lauderdale.
There are now over 200 motor yachts available for charter in the British Virgin Islands—smaller motor yachts are in Nanny Cay, while the larger ones anchor in the USVI.
Billionaires’ Playground
Virgin Gorda North Sound is full of luxury superyachts and is a popular destination among billionaires. The area’s perfect sailing conditions and natural beauty make it an ideal location for cruising in luxury BVI yacht charters.
With upscale developments in marinas and facilities, the real estate market has never been more buoyant. But much of North Sound’s appeal is owed largely to the wealth of local personalities, which has made it the place it is today.
Most Motor yachts in Virgin Gorda North Sound are typically equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and luxurious cabins. They are also staffed with highly trained crews who are dedicated to providing guests with an unparalleled level of service.
Sir Richard Branson purchased Necker Island in 1978 for a mere $180,000, and it has since become a symbol of luxury and exclusivity. Over the years, Branson has transformed the island into a private retreat, not only for himself but also for high-profile guests, celebrities, and those seeking a lavish escape. Necker Island reflects Branson’s passion for conservation, with ongoing efforts to preserve the natural beauty and diverse wildlife that inhabit the island.
- Tortola Island: Tortola is the largest island in the British Virgin Islands and offers some of the best diving and snorkeling spots in the Caribbean, especially in Cane Garden Bay. Don’t miss a visit to Smuggler’s Cove, a perfect shallow reef ideal for scuba beginners, untouched by civilization. Road Town provides a taste of authentic Caribbean living with its colorful streets, rum-infused cocktails at beach bars, and unique shopping at Craft’s Alive Village. A visit to the Callwood Rum Distillery is also a must.
- Jost Van Dyke: Jost Van Dyke is renowned for its exceptional scuba diving and vibrant marine life, making it a top destination for snorkeling and water sports enthusiasts. The island is famous for its energetic atmosphere around White Bay and Great Harbour. Visit the iconic Great Harbour Bars of Foxy’s and Ivan’s, the peaceful Diamond Cay, and the Bubbly Pool. Don’t forget to swim to the Soggy Dollar Bar for a painkiller cocktail and relax at Hendo’s Hideout.
- Virgin Gorda Island: Virgin Gorda, the third largest island in the British Virgin Islands, is known for its beautiful white sands and the rock pools of The Baths National Park. Explore the Copper Mine National Park, featuring 19th-century abandoned ruins, and enjoy hiking trails with sweeping coastal views. This island is perfect for both relaxation and adventure.
- Anegada Islands: Anegada, the northernmost island in the British Virgin Islands, is home to the world’s third-largest barrier reef. This island offers unique flora and fauna, including flamingos and salt ponds. Indulge in local culinary delights like native lobster at the Reef Hotel and conch at Big Bamboo in Loblolly Bay. A motor yacht charter is ideal for reaching this remote destination.
- The Little Sisters: The southern part of the British Virgin Islands features the smaller islands known as the Little Sisters: Norman Island, Peter Island, Salt Island, Cooper Island, and Ginger Island. Start your day at Norman Island and visit the wreck of the RMS Rhone for an interesting dive. The Indians, off Norman Island, offer one of the best shallow dive sites in the BVI with stunning rock formations and coral gardens. Each island offers its own unique charm and opportunities for exploration.
Top Things to Do on a BVI Motor Yacht Charter
As far as entertainment is concerned, famous spots include Foxy’s Beach Bar, Cooper Island Rum Bar, Soggy Dollar Bar, Bomba’s Shack, and more, all desirable spots for a full moon party, among other things!
A major part of any BVI Motor yacht charter can be scuba diving or snorkeling: Scuba divers and snorkelers have caves, tunnels, grottoes, wrecks, lagoons, and sea walls throughout the British Virgin Islands to spend their time, and the islands west of Virgin Gorda have some prime spots: Mountain Point has grottoes, archways, and corals that are accessible to novices at a depth of 12m/40ft, while The Invisibles is a submerged pinnacle covered in soft corals and sponges that give the location its vivid colors.
Spring Bay National Park, Devil’s Bay National Park, The Baths National Park, and Gorda Peak National Park are a few of many national parks worth a visit during your Luxury BVI yacht charter.
Best Time for a Motor Yacht Charter in the British Virgin Islands
The temperature throughout the year remains steady at around 28°C/82°F. The warm Caribbean waters and trade winds are there all year round, however, the dry season, from January until July, is considered the best time to charter a private yacht in the British Virgin Islands due to reduced humidity and less chance of rain per day.
November and December are also great times for a British Virgin Islands yacht vacation, with the Christmas and New Year festivities ensuring that there is plenty to see and do during the peak of the season.

The 55 Bali was great as we were the first paying customers. Beautiful boat with plenty of room. The Captain and first mate were great. Food was top notch and so good that we opted to not do 1 shore dinner and just ate on the boat. We saw and did everything that we set out to see. I would repeat in a heartbeat.

Communication was the key to our successful trip. Chris at DMA Yachting kept us informed about what to expect, upcoming payments, etc. He was on top of the one hiccup we had and really turned a negative into a positive. Would definitely us them again.
