Crew
Captain: Dylan Paynter
Raised running heavy machinery on remote African game farms and now at the helm of a 75ft catamaran, Dylan runs HQ2 with the same quiet control he once used threading riverboats through crocodile water.
He pushes guests toward the edge of their comfort zone—racing sails, chasing fish, working the toys—and still brings them back to a deck that feels calm, safe, and dialed-in.
- Born and raised on a game farm in Botswana, operating tractors, TLBs, loaders and excavators from a young age.
- Developed seamanship racing an L26 monohull while completing a BCom degree at university.
- Formal sailing qualifications obtained in South Africa, trained in heavy-weather, open-ocean conditions.
- Has crossed oceans and cruised multiple countries and island chains aboard HQ2 and other yachts.
Kayla turns whatever the islands give her—dockside catch, market vegetables, a ripe pineapple—into plates that hit hard on flavor and comfort, then land on the table looking like they walked out of a fine-dining kitchen.
She feeds hungry, salt-soaked guests with big, honest portions and then blindsides them with details like lavender brûléed cheesecake or game carpaccio that tastes like Africa under starlight.
- Started cooking as a child in Cape Town, blending garden vegetables and spices with her grandparents.
- Worked in fine-dining restaurants during university, developing advanced flavor and plating skills.
- Perfected a farm-to-fork style at a farm resort, involving guests in collecting eggs and picking fresh produce.
- Has sailed over 8,000 nautical miles on HQ2, delivering a “sea to spoon” experience for charter guests.
Jesse moves through the BVI like it’s just another version of the bush he grew up in, spotting the quiet anchorages, the reef life, the small details most people never see.
He keeps the boat running smooth, then slips over the side with guests to hunt for reef, wrecks, and fish, turning every swim into a guided nature mission.
- Raised on a Botswana game farm and later a cattle and crop farm resort, hosting guests and running game drives from a young age.
- Volunteered at a crocodile farm in Chobe, learning risk awareness and safe operation around wildlife.
- Educated at Michaelhouse, South Africa; earned half-colours in Art with sculptures exhibited at the Durban Art Exhibition.
- Began sailing at university and now serves as First Mate on a 75ft sailing catamaran, with hobbies in scuba diving, freediving and fishing.

I can't thank you guys enough for the amazing charter! I must admit when I heard we were your first charter ever I got a little nervous. When you told us you sailed from South Africa to the BVI's I knew we were with a skilled crew and we were safe.... After that the check marks kept coming. Fun, energetic, kind, caring and overall just great human beings. ..... it didn't take long before we all knew we hit the jackpot with you guys. From the food and drinks to the snorkeling, kayaking, private beach picnic, teaching us to sail and everything in between Thank you guys for turning what would have been a great week into simply the best vacation we have ever been on. We can't wait to sail with you guys again!!

Dylan and Ameda were more than we could have ever hoped for!! My sister-in-law and I were crying as we said goodbye because they had become family to all of us. We both continue to talk to them since we have returned home also! The islands we went to were unbelievable and all the amazing adventures we did were amazing!
They made Christmas for our kids (and us) one of the best!! We experienced some mechanical issues with the boat “Perpetual Blue” and Dylan and Ameda handled it so well. We had to spend the night on the dock one of the nights so a mechanic could work on the boat. Dylan had all of that arranged and worked around it to make plans for us on the island we were on.
We have shared our experience with so many of our family and friends and have recommended them to all! Thank you for providing an easy booking, great communication through the planning process, and overall amazing vacation!! We all are ready to come back and we want Dylan and Ameda again!! 😊
