Hull #1 of Beneteau’s flagship Oceanis Yacht 62 series, SERENA is a 2017, refit-2023 63ft sailing yacht built for small groups who care about details. She sleeps 6 guests in three equal queen suites, all en-suite, so nobody draws the short cabin.

The real play here is experience density: a chef-level galley and serious menu (MediterrAsian fusion, lobster, ceviche, steak, pastry-chef desserts), run by an owner-operator team who do this full-time, on their own yacht. Add in draft beer, an automated bartending system, and a full bar program, and your “let’s just have one drink” plan is over before it starts.

On deck, Berret-Racoupeau design plus a hydraulic swim platform, foredeck lounging, and proper sailing performance give you real-yacht feel, not floating condo. In the water, you get the toys stack: waterskis (adult & kids), wakeboard, tube, kneeboard, paddleboard, kayaks, big dinghy, fishing gear, beach kit, plus an inflatable jet-ski dock ready if you want to bring or rent more power.

Hugh runs Serena like a seasoned ocean racer turned private host, threading tight, smooth passages while keeping the mood light and the service sharp. He blends serious passagemaking skills with a chef’s eye for detail, so guests slide through the islands with calm precision and never feel the seams.

Over 36 years of ocean sailing and competitive racing experience (started UK & France, 1987).
RYA YachtMaster 500 Ton Sail & Power Commercial License (UK Sailing Academy, 2002).
Former Captain & Chef on charter yachts in Cayman Islands, Virgin Islands, USA & Japan; operated “5 Star Sailing” with a 50 ft Beneteau (2007–2011).
Owned and operated a 60 ft Beneteau sloop (Ocean Star 60) and now co-owner/operator of 63 ft Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62 Serena.

Vivianne turns Serena into a roaming restaurant with a sharp, global palate, dropping Mediterranean-Asian fusion plates and tailored cocktails that make every anchorage feel like a private city-night out. She reads guests fast and builds menus around them, so the food and vibe lock in step with how they actually want to live on board.

US-born, Italian–Venezuelan heritage; lived in the US, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Mexico and the Caribbean; fluent in five languages.
Trained at multiple culinary schools worldwide and studied Hospitality Management at Florida International University’s School of Hospitality & Tourism.
Former restaurant Pastry Chef, owner of upscale Miami catering company “Truffles Catering,” and Private Chef for HNWI on shore and on charter yachts.
ASA Offshore Sailing Certificate; has owned and operated several Beneteau yachts and co-founded Serena Yacht Charters, LLC in 2023 with Captain Hugh.

The long sails, dining, snorkeling, and food were tremendous.
As a group, we all agreed Hugh was a one-man comedy show. And to watch him jump into action — jack of all trades — fix any and everything was a feat to watch.
Additionally, his grasp of all things about the voyage, wealth of information (delivered in a humorous banter) was amazing. At no time were we bored — nothing but great dialogue, restful sails, and great sleep.

Captain Hugh and Vivi are Masters of Improvisation and Adaptation. The previous page covers what a fantastic week this has been. Adding to that is that we have 5/6 guests with various allergies, and the food was high end restaurant quality even when 3-4 different platings/ingredients were juggled. Vivi and Hugh adapted to our schedule of being late sleepers, and we still maximized our two main focci, Snorkeling and Sailing.
We saws how much effort this took, and we appreciate it!
